Your timing sounds like it is set pretty high. what happens when you back it off to 14 degrees?

Seems like you been had. They sold you a turbo instead of a charger [Big Grin] . JK yeah that cam should be kind of rough, and yeah your timing is way high. Lower it to 14 and work up slowly from there. [patriot]

What timing chain are you using?
Was the camshaft degreed in?

I've seen timing chains that were 4+ degrees off when on the 'zero' keyway....& cams that were ground 4+ degrees off from the cam card. From my experience this is more comon with 3-keyway timing chains. Typically I use 9-keyway chains & degree everything.

It either sounds like the balancer/dampner is off, or the cam timing is off. Both are comon.

Really, the dampner should be degreed in to TDC on the #1 cylinder to make sure '0' on the balancer/dampner is truely TDC.

Have you checked the TPS volts? Bad balancer is a good possibility also, whats your fuel pressure at? New filter(air, fuel), clean MAF, good tune up???

TPS voltage should be around .99 volts at idle at the green wire. Like I said though I have a similar setup and mine runs best at 20 degrees, so then maybe something is wrong with mine but it runs great.

it does the same thing at 20 degrees as it does at 14 degrees though, the timing is not the problem

What gears do you have? My Power dosent come on until around 2500-3000rpm, I think that is where that cam is supposed to make power.
So if you have high gears its going to suck, because it will take longer to get into that range.

actuly the correct way to check timming on yours would be to check the total at around 3000 rpm it should be around 34 degrees. Everything sounds like it is ok. I might try borrowing somebody elses mass air meter and just plug it in see if there is a difference. You might want to try running a compresion test on your motor to see were it is at. good luck

Did you maybe over-oil your filter & contaminate the MAF sensor? Code check?
