Iam going to run rear wheel disc on my 87 5.0 and i wanted to know whats a good proportioning valve to run and how to adjust it? Its a svo style rear disc so will i need to run the svo master cylinder and brake booster or could i just the mc? Is there anything else i would need? Thanks i really appreciate the help.

Wilwood or Baer make a proportioning valve that would fit your application.

I used a 1995 GT m/c, stock foxbody 5.0 booster, and an SSBC adj. prop valve (same as wilwood, frpp, etc).

http://svo73mm.cjb.net will have all the info you'd need, just go read everything and bookmark it.

I would highly recommend running a Wilwood adjustable proportioning valve.

the part #'s for the e-brake cables you have to buy are at that site I linked.

the prop valve comes with instructions on adjusting, you just turn the knob on it to adjust how much pressure the rear brakes get.

and yes, you have to do the 3-2 port conversion, rear disc master cylinders have 2 brake line outputs (f/r), your master cylinder now has 3, so you need to use an adapter to hook up the 3 lines to the 2 line m/c.

Here's a good article on e-brake modification. Scroll about halfway down the page to the part entitled 'Ebrake Handle and Cables'. You can click on the orange words for pics.

http://www.mustangcentral.net/tech/brake.html

Matt sells the 3-2 port adapter for the m/c and the adapter for the rear lines on his site at www.svo73mm.cjb.net.

I already ordered the ssc adj. prportioning valve is there something that makes it not as good as the wilwood one?

you can buy all of the e-brake cables and the brass plug from summit, just search for the model #'s without the -'s in them.

You need 2 of the parking brake cables (m2809a I think) and 1 of the center adjustable cables (m2810a I think)

I bought the 3-2 conversion from that site, but it sucked, I'd recommend getting it from www.maximummotorsports.com

my 3-2 conversion ended up with one of the brake lines pointing straight at my header on that side so I had to be really creative with bending the line to keep it away from it [Roll Eyes]

They grab the nut on 5 of the 6 sides so that it doesn't round off. They're a musthave when working with brake lines. Oh, and get the Craftsman for $10. Fairly good quality with a lifetime guarantee!
