Not to be a dark cloud, but I quit supporting the Goodguys 7 years ago when they "errantly" mis-calculated my season points, awarded my Championship to another driver(who knew they made a mistake, but wouldnt tell them). At the awards banquet, the "other" driver was awarded a giant trophy, a check(one of those giant ones), some goodies from supporting vendors, and all the crap associated with clinching a Nostalgia Class Championship. 5 months later, a hand written letter came in the mail that basically said "sorry, we screwed up. See ya next season. Oh, and since we paid out all the contingency money, we cant get it back. We'll wave your entry fee's next year"...yea. Thats only $50.00 it isnt close to the $2k I missed out on.
That, and the fact that the poor sportsman drag racers pay $50.00 to compete at an event, and if you are good enough to go 8 rounds, and wind up being runner-up, you win $75.00 Whoppty-doo. You spend that in race gas, so you actually lose money unless you win the event. Winner gets $300
All of the proceeds from the racing go to support the trailer queens. yes, they are beautiful cars. But if the goodguys really understood how the auto enthusiast's mind really worked, they would have the racers be supported by the car show atendees. A spectator at a Good Guys drag race event pais $45.00 to get in(2 day event). The car shows are what, UP to $10.00/person now? Gimme a break.
If they knew how to run a sanction, they would have alot more racers, alot more shows, and alot less unhappy drag racers. I may be one, but I can easily name over 150 ex-goodguys. The real irony, is in their name.
have fun. And dont blame the trailer queens. it isnt their fault. Its the losers who run the "not so Good Guys". [ March 12, 2004, 12:14 PM: Message edited by: Blackicelsc ]

If you wanna meet up early then we could. But I try to get a certain area, and to do so, I'm there at 5:45.

I used to get there later than that and have had no problem finding a good spot. What area are you going for?

There is this little triangle with a hill right past the exhibition building, there is a tree for shade there. Always the first area to get nabbed up. Gets alot of foot traffic.

Oh ok, I think I know that spot. Do you get in line and wait for the gates to open at 8?
