sounds like your getting awfully close to just comparing timeslips with them. why not take it one step further and have a dyno fest?

Well who wants to watch low 14 second stock GT's get worked by low 13 second stock LS1's all day? Just trying to protect the little guys here

My goal with this is to keep it Mustangs only. If we start adding other cars in and so on we might as well just go to the Summit ET Brackets. I want this to be like the Modular shootouts or the Funford weekends that they do on the East Coast. What I'm looking for in this post is to see how many people are interested in doing this.

It should be a heads up race with different classes, bracket style racing sucks. Just need to get a wide variety of mustangs that can run anywhere from 14 sec. to 8 sec. That would be more like a Fun Ford weekend style event!

My first thought was the motor catagorys with straight eliminations. But thinking about it somemore. What do you guys think about a modified bracket racing. It would be 2 practice runs then bracket racing catagorys based on the times of your practice runs. So it would break down like 14seconds and above cars would bracket race againts each other. Then 13sec cars, 12sec cars and 11's and better. That would keep the race's closer all the way down the track.

I seriously doubt that 90% of the "5.0" cars are 306 or bigger now. I'm sure it's the other way around, 10% are 306 or bigger and 90% are 302.
grudge nights basically provide everything you guys are looking for.
edit: oh, I am down for the event assuming the costs aren't ridiculous, say under $60 or something. It also depends on my car. Currently it's running and all is well, but ya never know and I have to swap over my heads and cam again so that always takes me a little while. I don't know what they are charging lately to rent out the track, but if you get enough people that post here to go you will have half the crowd you have on a grudge night and it would be all mustangs. And I'm sure not if you did get a good turn out and charged the same as a grudge night the organizers might even make some money!

Sorry to be off topic, but is this your car here?

Bounty Hunter, most everyone on here has a "street car" that they'd be taking to the track instead of a "full blown race car" like yours. John91Coupe seems to be the only one even close to you and it's still a full second slower.

For the guy who posts under the name I like to race, I realize that pretty much every one on this site have "street cars" but I also thought this site was for all mustang fans? My car is not the only car with a Bounty Hunter sticker, there are several other street cars in our group so a shootout/show could still apply to a Bounty Hunter car, if people on this site felt my car was not what 98cobra.com was about then I'm sure it would still apply to my friends cars. And maybe one night we might run into you and we can see just how much "you lile to race".

Hey Bounty Hunter, I wasn't saying your car is inappropriate for the web site, just a tad over kill for 98cobra.com heads up racing. Call up Mel and see where you fall into place at the PSCA if you want that.
As far as other cars with Bounty Hunter stickers on their windows, I am aware of that. I remember when you guys were the top dogs around the san mateo area like 3-4 years ago but since then I almost never see them driving around.
I met Dave, that slow talking VERY Italian guy (yeah i know all of you guys are pretty much Italian), and that other guy who is a Foster City cop (much respect goes to him with his avoid the 5th or whatever his jacket says that is for busting drunks) with the white 5.0 w/ vortec. That is an awesome car and a daily driver. Ask them if they remember me, i was with Chris Bernadini and they weren't big fans of me or how I was setting up my car. (I'm sure they'll tell you I'm an idiot).
Anyway, i'm sorry if you thought i was talking shit, i wasn't, i was only considering your car not all your buddies too. I would show up to this event just to see the other Bounty Hunter cars run. For that matter I'd enjoy watching your car run too, but this web site isn't going to get you any competition. That is the point i was trying to make.

In reply to I like to race, i'm not looking for any competitive races on this site, I'm aware of the level of cars on this site, but I am a fan of any mustang no matter what the mods are. As for my car I'm a member of the PSCA and my car is being tweaked as we speak to race in Xtreme street class, but hey no hard feelings toward you.
