Just want to find out how many people have gone wheels up at the track. What does the launch feel like?

One or two wheels? The one wheel club is huge and difficult to prove.

I've done it several times with my old tube chassis 89. But it sucks. It's hard on your front end, and oil pan and headers. Read my tips in the Tech talk forum about overcorrecting a car when it gets wheels up.

One of my friends told me i did both wheels on the street once in my Jeep. I had the really small tires on though. I don't know if i did or not i remember the front end lifting up pretty high but i think my suspension would have flexed cause thats what its made for.

Mark you saw me do it a few times in Rhett's car. From what everyone was saying I guess there was no question about it.

I pulled the tire for a tiny bit about an inch or two last time at the track at least once that I know of. I don't know what's up with that though because it was a low 1.9, don't know how it happened. Caught it on video though...saw a little bit of daylight under the tire .

seems like anything 1.75 or less will get an inch or two. I have SSM lift bars, and now I have tokiko 5-ways out back set to "unknown" lol don't ask. otherwise stock suspension, no quads. Call me a ricer, but I "know" with deleted AC, smog, aluminum heads, and battery in the trunk (about 150#'s off the nose) my car will probably carry the front wheels on motor soon enough
earlier in the year I had TFS heads and a cam on my old HO motor that got me a 1.67 60' and a fairly lifted passenger tire (about 4"). Lately the low 1.7x 60's are probably getting me about 2"
here's the "proof" of a 2" wheelie
(Chirag has it down pretty well, I clearly saw him left a tire in person 2 weekends ago) [ November 22, 2002, 09:57 PM: Message edited by: shade-tree ]

every bit of ten inches from my perspective...like i said, i never thought id see my car do that. Amazing what a decent running daily driver will do with a set of slicks and the local 'hot shoe' at the wheel

My old '91 GT would pull a couple inches on the motor when I was getting between a 1.58 and a 1.61 sixty foot. It was about the same height but carried out a lil farther when I squeezed out of the gate, got best of a 1.46 and consistent 1.48 sixty foots. My car was 2700 lbs w/ ten point cage, Eibach springs w/ air bag, Lakewoods all corners, Factory Five uppers/lowers, Lakewood traction bars and 28 x 10.5 ET drags.
New car/combo should pull low 1.4's on the motor and high 1.3x's on the jug.

In my car I cut mid 1.6's and I have yet to see any evidence that a tire is coming off the ground. But then on the other hand I don't even have subfram connectors and my car has some body flex.

Wheels coming up has a great deal to with how much front suspension travel you have. Victor Silvas 460 based 67 project car cuts 1.4X 60fts, runs 10.7's and never lifts the front wheels... this is due to relatively tall front springs, which locate high up in the shock tower, on early cars.
The latemodel cars, with the shorter spring locating low (k member to lower A arm) have an easier time (less total travel.)
Hey Joe... i've been told the right front wheel on my car comes up, but i've never had a good pic to confirm it. This pic, from the old 302 motor and 1.6x, 60fts is the best i've got of a hard launch... but the damn blue staging box is in the way!
Any good photoshop experts want to blend the box out, extend the ground, and put in the lower half of the wheel? It may show its off an 1" or 2"

VERY close!
With stock springs I'd do it. My Eibach Pro-Kit just doesn't have enough travel in the rear so I just squat and go.
1.5 60's are normal N/A, if I could get it to hook on juice the wheels will go up!

On my personal vehicle, I have gotten the front up, longest it ever stayed up was only like five blocks though, I figured by the fifth light I went throuh the cops would shurly catch me.
Wait, this is about cars huh? Ok got one for ya...
When I worked for (unnamed dealership) I drove several Ford Explorer Sports (2 door) 5-SPEEDS ONLY. I promise you these will pull BOTH tires off the ground about 1-3 feet. I have done it several times, and have witnesses.
HEY T-TOP TERROR....remember the good ol days?

I have done it a few times in my 'vert (Mark, you've even see it) No evidence of pulling the front tire(s) on the bottle, but I know that if I pulled the driverside up 2" on the motor w/1.74 something had to move on my 1.57 !!!! LOL
There is a video of my 1.74 around here somewhere and the tire was up for 1 maybe 2 frames of the tape
As far as what it feels like, it happens so fast, unless someone tells you about seeing the tires come up, you would probably not know it happened

Done it several times in my 88lx. Usually carried only 5-10 ft. with a 1.41-1.45 60ft.(Thanks for the correction Team Solo). Monster wheel-stands dont make for good ET's or oil pans.

one of the cars I sponsor, a 65 coupe with one of my street 408's in it, pulls the wheels all of the time and runs consistent 10.80's at 125MPH with a stock suspension. The best thing is she is a 19 year old girl (cute too!) and runs in the top of her class (Comp Rod) at Sears Point, Sac, Las Vegas and so on. You can see pictures of her doin' a wheel stand in the gallery of my web site at www.BadAssCars.com Mind you, that is on pump gas and through the mufflers with nothing morte than 8" cheater slicks... Next year, we are going to up the engine a bit more and drop her down a few more tenths... or more...
