OMG!OMG! Here we go, it's just like back in 1985 when everyone was lamenting that performance cars had died because Ford was ditching carburetors and installing computers and the end of days was upon us.
Once again, our beloved government-funded organizations have stepped in and forced change. We shall overcome this dreadful death of the V8.
I love all my V8's as much as the next person. But a new era of performance is already here.
Time to evolve you dinosaurs. Go pop in a VHS tape and watch your tube televisions.
It would be even more awesome if this 'informant at Ford' is full of sh#t and you guys are all getting trolled like SHOtime does to you. [ 2015-01-13, 08:38 PM: Message edited by: phildog ]

I been out of the mustang game for a while. I think to many years already lol. But yea the new era is here. I dont mind the new ford gt being a v6. Shit ferrari did the same now they will power v6 motors. The sound of the v8 are amazing and im sure ford will not forget that so i think they will figured something out with the v6 boost. And dont forget guys ford is always been about small displacement big power.

I can't say it's new news but sadly I see Hondas rape v8 s at the track all the time. Technology has come a long way to pull more power out of a 6cyl and 4cyl engines. better hold on tight to the V8s you have now and any parts you can find. The government and the EPA will do anything to clean up the air. Sad but life. I can only imagine them getting rid of 6cyl engines too in the near future.

I'll believe it when the announcement is made by Ford but it is a very bad sign that the new GT is a V6. I'm not worried about the performance of future Mustangs since they will still be fast but they just won't sound as good as the V8s.
With that said I am now very worried about current V8 mustangs especially the coyotes and GT500s going up in value when the V8s go bye bye due to higher demand for V8s. This will make it even more difficult for me to ever own one.

I will believe it when I see it, Ford did something like this in the late 80s saying they were replacing the Mustang with the Probe

It seems like a valid article. I've heard though the grapevine about these upcoming laws / EPA requirements, now I'm reading about them http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2012/08/2017-fuel-economy-rules-will-save-consumers-money/index.htm
You want to know how I save MONEY every year on auto expenses? I drive a 99 Ford escort, I get close to 30mpg , I have liability insurance on it and I don't have a car payment. I pay less then 75 bucks to insure my vehicles every month.
Tell me why should buy a new car? Make payments every month, carry full coverage just so I can get a few more MPG then I already do now. I can park my POS in any parking lot and not worry about dents...... I love owning a beater car LOL.

This all sounds fine and dandy to your everyday motorist who only sees cars as a way to get somewhere and is not an enthusiast, but what everyone is failing to realize is that the government won't stand for the reduced tax revenue that will be a result of consumers buying less gas and eventually will end up having some kind of mileage based tax where they check your odometer and charge you based on that.

If it can do at least 11's stock and out handle every other car made in America I wouldn't mind having one. The V8 grumble will be gone, but lets hope it sounds like a F1 car:).

Have you heard F1 since they went to a V6? Horrible would be the best one word used to describe them now!
One of the main reason't I got into mustangs was the sound. Nothing (imo) sounds better than a nicely tuned mustang. I hope this isn't true but if it is, I already have my V8's
