For all you in Cali, is it often cops pull over cars with a loud exhaust? I hear cops mostly pull over rice rockets with loud exhaust because they're annoying and are less likely to pull over muscle cars with loud exhaust because it's not an annoying sound. Obviously if you get on it and drive stupid you're going to get pulled over but have any of you been driving normal with an illegal/loud exhaust system? If so, what is the punishment for something like that?

V8 cars - - - - - Only really if the cats are missing because it's more than just a noise issue. Yes, the fart box ricer cars get stopped for annoying exhaust more than a v8 car.

Can cops tell if the cats are missing by the sound of the car? Is it often that they pull V8 cars over just for loud exhaust? How do they determine the cats are missing to site you? Sorry for all the questions but I'm planning on getting a Bassani o/r x pipe installed with my Borla Stingers and just want to know if I have a high chance of getting pulled over and sited.

i had an o/r x on my 2v for over 2years.. been pulled over by cops plenty times and never had no issue with my exhaust. its part of the muscle v8 to have a loud tone to it. as long as your not burning out and all

I've been pulled over in my old '66 before and in my old Neon for exhaust. Got a ticket for the Neon and a warning for the Mustang. For the record, the Mustang was headers strait into 3" purple hornies resonators dumped before the end of the transmission tailshaft. It was fuckin' LOUD. The Neon just had a Pacesetter exhaust. Not very loud at all.

To me I can always tell if you're catless they all have a distinct sound kinda like a hollow sound.

If you drive like an ass and don't watch for the cops they will roll on you for anything. The most I ever heard a cop say something about my car was, hey man nice car. What year is it?

This one of the reasons I sold my stang over 5 years ago. My car was pretty loud and I got tired or always getting pulled over. Plus my car was performance red so very easy to pick on.

Well I live in Oakland so I feel that cops have bigger fish to fry then someone driving a Mach 1 with loud exhaust. The only thing I'd be worried about is when I go back home to a small town called Vacaville. I feel there the cops would for sure pull me over and question the loud exhaust cause there they really have nothing better to do. I don't drive like an idiot so I don't think I'll draw attention to myself in that way but I did hear that there is a very distinct and noticeable smell. I was just reaching out to find out if it was a common thing for cops to pull over and site for illegal exhaust.

Super loud exhaust is dumb and pointless. Its not worth the hassle and attention you get from cops.

I used to run around vacaville witb or/x pioe and bssanni. Cops never looked twice. If you're worried throw it in a high gear and coast past them.
