I've done a little polishing but I hate sanding. I don't sand with any finer grit sandpaper than 360 grit wet dry sandpaper without water was the reason I asked.
FWIW: Like you I start with 100 or 120 grit and then 180 grit, move to 220 grit and then 360 grit. From there I use Emery compound on a ventilated flap buffing wheel followed by Tripoli compound on a spiral sewn buffing wheel, and then White Rouge Compound.

Not saying what you're doing doesn't work for you it's just that I just hate sanding is the reason I use the different compounds. I think they seem to give you a higher shine with less sanding and the mothers polish is all.

It's no mystery, 80 grit on up to 2000 then mothers billet aluminum polish. I've got 40+ hrs into my intake.

I've done a little polishing and a few intakes along with a few other things and that's why I hate sanding so much. I figured there had to be an easier, faster and simpler way and why I came up with the method that I did.
