I have the opportunity to buy a 71 Mach 1 with a 351c motor. 103k miles. Owned by an elderly woman. From what I hear it had carburetor problems. And has now been sitting for 10 years.
Car is in decent shape. Small dent on the rear quarter panel. Small primer spot on front right. Other than that paint is not bad.
I have not had a chance to look it over yet. I believe the car is all original. What would be a fair price range for a car like this?
Also when I go look at it closer what should I look for? Any problem areas with these cars? I'm sure hoses need replaced. And other stuff from sitting.
Thanks [ 2013-05-03, 08:21 PM: Message edited by: ItzStock ]

There was a common problem at the front of them.....ugly as shit.
Sometimes it will follow to the rear of the car where its.....uglier than shit.
There are about 14 people on this planet tho, that absolutely love them and if they own it, its worth gold

yes they are odd looking but the 71 mach 1's that had the 429 SCJ were no joke back in the day and had little to no competition back then. they were beast.

My dad had grabber blue 71 429 scj he used to bracket race at fremont back in the day. Sadly he cut it up turned it into a tube chassis car. Like Dan said, there's a small group of people that love them and will pay.

Heavy as fuck besides being......ugly as shit! if it has a 4bbl 351C motor you might find someone to buy the car based on that. with it being ugly price point will be the key to flipping it. I concur, that blue mustang is a 69.

if its a factory 4bbl car,its has some value
check floors and trunk, very common areas for rust, mainly trunk floor, always rust out
should have 9" rear and front disc brakes
if its a 4bbl car, could have factory functional ram air setup
stick or auto car?

LMAO
My buddy's dad used to love '71-'73 and we all made fun of him. One day he told us, "Watch, as you get older, you'll appreciate them." Sure as shit, I do like them.

I love them. I'm restoring one right now. Who cares what anyone else thinks. If you like it get it. There not worth a ton of money but I get a lot of nice comments from people when I drive it. For sure a lot more then I ever got driving my foxbodys. And I'm pretty sure I've owned the coolest ones of them .

The 70's were just mostly bad to the mustang. The neon green machs don't look too bad in person.

It was a pretty drastic change from 1970. I've always kinda liked the mach 1s though. Can't stand the coupes. I think this looks pretty badass.

I never liked them till I saw gone in 60 seconds, then it kinda grew on me but it would have to have to be a badass setup. No stock bullshit.
