Not to insult you but a lot of racing has to do with the driver as well. Give you an example, on my 06 r1 first time at t-hill I was running 2:20 lap times. I dropped that bike with no changes down to 2:05 in 1 year. Picked up another R1 for track only and first time out went 2:06, dropped my lap times to 1:59 in two track days. You will learn the track, when to do what etc... and get faster. Just takes practice!!

What's wrong with it? If you have a stock mach 1 then that should be pretty decent to have some fun with! Dont expect to be super fast and smooth yet, especially if it was your first time driving on a race track. What club did you run with?

no offense taken..i know i suck.. it was my first time out there..and only as a passenger in my friends g35... but ive messed around in my mach enough to know it will have alot of trouble in those sharps turns and at those wierd angles. a stockish mustang needs alot to atleast do okay at that place.

i have eibach springs and koni str shocks.. so the car handles well.. more like a smooth cruiser with power then a corner carver.. we are not part of any club..just went to the class they offer.

You really have to try it out in your own car to determine whether your car sucks or not. A lot of people doubt mustangs on a road course, I being one of them, but once you get a feel for the car and get used to driving on a track you'll realize that it really isn't all that bad! Sure, there are tons of better handling cars out there, but work with what you have and go have some fun! Trust me, you won't regret it

I actually feel sorry for people who feel they need to spend mega bucks in order to have a good time at the track. In fact, a powerful car that handles poorly is a blast to drive. If it wasn't, we'd all be in Miatas! Focus on safety, get the best brakes you can afford and your only concern should be is having fun and being able to drive home afterwards.

or stick with the SRA and get the MM setup (PHB, T/A, LCA)

^^^^ spend a bunch of money to polish a turd or just go get an IRS. You can make a solid rear handle but it takes a lot of money to do so.

Not really...I got my "turd" to handle quite well for much less than people sell stock IRS's.

Buying parts second hand will save you money but most IRS' are acquired through trade plus cash. A bone stock IRS with just springs will handle MUCH better considering the money spent on the MM parts alone plus labor for install (not everyone can do their own work especially drilling/welding for the PHB). Like I said the solid can be made to handle but in the end when factoring in money and the hassle of acquiring/installing the new parts the IRS is the simplest way to good handling.

is the main reason the front end dives under braking is because of the sra? so just switching to a irs would fix that?

Dude STFU unless you know what your talking about.... NO ONE road racing a mustang uses an IRS, they are weak and can not stand the punishment road racing puts on them.... but yeah run an IRS cuz they're dope.

^^^^ THIS. I get around thunder hill just fine (2:15.xx) with my stock 2V and my SRA. I agree with who ever said get the best brakes you can afford. cooling ducts help also. My car is 267 RWHP 2002 GT mustang. big brakes, suspension and since it is not on the road it is gutted. I figured I dont need power, i need to learn how to drive and get confident. Now that it has been 4 years of open track I would like to add power, not a lot but i think 400RWHP would be great.

Says the guy who probably has no real experience with either setups
