No I don't want to know about your rpg's/ak47s/45's/pit bulls lol
I want to set up a dvr camera system, maybe 4 or 5 cameras. Any input, suggestions. Last question do I need a dedicated cpu tower for the cameras?

I have a nightowl system I bought from tigerdirect. It came with a DVR that can be linked to the internet and you can view your cameras remotely. I upgraded the cameras because the ones that came with it were weak. Then later added motion sensors.
All in all cost me about 1200.
Most systems will come with a dvr so no tower will be needed. Im in the process of trying to write a mobile app for my home system. [ March 17, 2012, 06:41 PM: Message edited by: N8 ]

You may need to upgrade the cameras. My night vision was not that great. Did you get wire less cameras?

N8 so what do you recommend? I don't want to buy shitty cameras or buy cameras I don't need.

But seriously, a setup like this is good. My mom has a similar setup out at the dock watching her boat.

The nightowl system was a good deal. But I have a really long driveway, so I needed a little better resolution. But out the box it is cool. When I get to a computer I will see if I can find links to what I have. Oh yea, I had to buy a monitor as well, for the in house viewing.

Last question, is it possible to hook up to a regular tv to watch cameras or videos.

I've hooked a few of these up in some friends houses, my only advice is to go wireless it's 75% easier to install an don't have to run any cables, it's worth the few extra bucks.

Have the nightowl set up had both wireless and hard wire and hard wire is better due to frequency scanners easy to jam with even just a cell phone plus no lag with wireless
