Is the silver front part stock with the gun? It looks exactly like my S&W1911 except for that part and the laser/flashlight. Is it pretty light?

With a full mag(8rds) its not too bad, feels about as heavy as my Beretta 9mm with a full mag(15rds)
It just feels solid while holding it. The front compensator didnt add much weight at all and it's an aftermarket piece.

Your grandpa may have this type of gun, but new technology and enhancements are put into this style 1911, I love this gun, it's the gun I wanted, and we all have different taste, so stick to your more "sophistcated/futuristic" weaponary, but to me the styles you mention look like ass to me!!! lol but thats just my opinion!
