It should be fast. The amount of money it cost to build that car is silly.

That was roughly the down payment he left when he dropped the car off to get the project started. I'll leave it at that. [ June 24, 2010, 01:05 PM: Message edited by: SF Coupe ]

Big wing, body kit, stickers... You know, typical go-fast street car stuff.
J/K... That thing is crazy fast. ![[worship]](graemlins/worship.gif)

Man that looks fun. Anybody know if they rent cars to do this at all? I used to race sport bikes, but I REALLY want to get into the car thing.

So many of those Griggs cars, and others on the AIX level, look like balloons with just a little bit too much air in them, the body panels all stretched out and the gaps wide open. Just looks kinda odd, I mean, I know why this stuff is done, but I know of a sectioned and acid dipped car that 'looks' stock and kills the competition, so I know it can be done.
For me, if I was looking for this type of race car, I would buy an ex-Cup car and sh*t on all types of people. But that is just me.

Why so you could make left turns all day? Cup cars are weak and not meant for road courses and should stay on ovals.

Ummmm really? Not all the tracks are ovals. Go to a Shelby Club event and there is usually a couple ex-Nascars tearin' it up. To me, that's as bad ass as it gets. I can wear a tape on mullet while I'm driving if it makes you feel better.

Function over form, these cars require lots of track width and lots of rubber which the stock body panels just can't accommodate.
A friend of mine at the track bought a late model stock car. 380 rwhp, weighs near 3000lbs. The hp/weight ratio is well below the griggs car in the video. He's still getting used to the car and has turned 1:45s at Infineon. The previous owner has done 1:41s in it. He bought it for $11k. If you want to go really fast for cheap, buying real race cars is the only way to go. If I ever crash my car, it's probably the route I will go. Yeah I've been a Shelby Club member since 94, I'm not impressed with the cup cars. I know most of the owners who own them just to own them because of what they are but prefer other cars to them.
