it's a space pod full of air bags with tons of leg room. They are claiming it will hit 5 star crash test ratings across the board.
a helluva lot safer than a rolling death trap aka foxbody!

Its mostly made by a tubular chassis kinda like a drag car. It much safer than most older cars and much safer that a bike. I like the idea i put a deposit a while back too.

I keep having a fantasy about driving over the wheels with my Excursion while passing one up. Then watching the aftermath as it goes down the embankment....
I guess I'm just not ready for this movement

Read more into it. Last I heard the prototype used a dinosaur Geo Metro based 3 cylinder engine, or something to that effect. I think they were having issues developing their own powertrain among other items.

I've been following Elio for a while. I think their 84mpg estimate is VERY optimistic. Most motorcycles average 45mpg and they have a lot less weight, drag and rolling resistance. Hell, Ninja 250's barely touch 70mpg. [ 2015-08-27, 07:59 PM: Message edited by: wilit ]

Probably not less drag than a bike, unless you're tucked the entire time.
While it is most likely very optimistic like you said, the Geo metro was getting nearly 50 mpg twenty years ago. A modern version of that motor, plus a lighter and more aerodynamic vehicle could get pretty damn good mileage...

cant wait if they actually build it to get it. Shit i will be happy with 65 to 70 mpg. My current commuter gets 50mpg and im super happy with that.
