it's a space pod full of air bags with tons of leg room. They are claiming it will hit 5 star crash test ratings across the board.

a helluva lot safer than a rolling death trap aka foxbody!

I pray cobraracer buys it and gets run over by a semi.

Its mostly made by a tubular chassis kinda like a drag car. It much safer than most older cars and much safer that a bike. I like the idea i put a deposit a while back too.

I keep having a fantasy about driving over the wheels with my Excursion while passing one up. Then watching the aftermath as it goes down the embankment....

I guess I'm just not ready for this movement [Confused]

Read more into it. Last I heard the prototype used a dinosaur Geo Metro based 3 cylinder engine, or something to that effect. I think they were having issues developing their own powertrain among other items.

I've been following Elio for a while. I think their 84mpg estimate is VERY optimistic. Most motorcycles average 45mpg and they have a lot less weight, drag and rolling resistance. Hell, Ninja 250's barely touch 70mpg.

Probably not less drag than a bike, unless you're tucked the entire time.

While it is most likely very optimistic like you said, the Geo metro was getting nearly 50 mpg twenty years ago. A modern version of that motor, plus a lighter and more aerodynamic vehicle could get pretty damn good mileage...

cant wait if they actually build it to get it. Shit i will be happy with 65 to 70 mpg. My current commuter gets 50mpg and im super happy with that.

I'd take a Geo metro any day over a dorky 3 wheel clown car that's one seat wide. [BS flag]

If that thing were to get side swiped it would rip the little golf cart front wheels sticking out clean off the car.

That can happen to your mustang...I got side swiped in a Fox and broke the whole front A-Arm off *shrug*

Everyone seems to be forgetting it's not a car, it's a motorcycle. And a $6,800 brand new motorcycle at that. Granted it's no Busa or Ducati, but it's hard to get into a new 500cc starter bike for $6,800. Also, it has a roof and windows, so you can actually use it during the winter.

As far as being dangerous, compared to an Excursion, yeah, it's not going to hold up to impact well. But compared to a motorcycle (which it is), it's going to be a lot safer.

I find that very hard to believe you broke off an oem stamped steel a arm.

Lol, how could you call something with a roof an doors a motorcycle?
That thing is nothing more than a glorified golf cart with turn signals.

Some seem to forget Motorcycles are ridden, and there's a difference between riding and driving.

Because California law defines a motorcycle as anything with fewer than 4 wheels.

I'm not surprised, some california laws are a joke. I don't see how any self-respecting man could own that and claim that its their "motorcycle" when they drive it around with a steering wheel.
