They only have like a 70 mile range. Good for a grocery getter around town, bad for longer trips. As for driving experience, its a weird one. Thing is dead silent. Basically like a golf cart.

I drive like 110 miles a day but at work we have charging ports. Just wondering if this will work for me or not.

It takes about 7 hours to get a full charge so it could be a good commuter if you can charge it at work.

If you can only get ~70 miles per charge I would consider it useless. Get a hybrid, specifically a Prius, fill it up for $20, and go about 400 miles without a problem! Saves you the hassle of having to recharge it after every trip and prevents you from having to stress about potentially getting stranded.

Drove one as a commuter for 2 years.
Range realistically is 70-80 miles before u charge
Level 2 charge 6kw is about 3hrs to fully charge
Level 3 takes an eternity
Level 1 super charging is about 30min to fully charge

Cons: range sucks, regenerative braking is very jerky when u come to a stop, long commutes mean constant charging which can get old. If u charge at home ull notice a huge spike in energy usage.
My commute is 80miles round trip and required me to charge 2x a day.
I'll get back into an Ev when the range gets to 200 miles for a car in a more affordable mid price range instead of spending 70k and up for a tesla s. When car Makers get the pricing down to about 40k for a 200mile version they'll sell like hot cakes...in the meantime I'm back into a civic cng natural gas.. 2.25 bucks a gallon and carpool as well

yea, leafs are pretty gay but i could care less. its a commuter to save money especially when you get free charging at work.

resale on them is terrible. always lease em or buy a slightly used 2013 model for like 12k.
some of the deals ive seen recently was like a 3 year lease at practically zero down after rebates and like $130/month for 1k miles/month. also get a free Level 2 home charger and blink charge card. cant get better than that.
check this link for deals on EV cars:

I find it funny how a lot of ppl on here make fun of others who drive fuel efficient cars as commuters/daily drivers. Does it make you cool to spend $60-$80 per week on gas? I think spending $0-30 per week is cooler [Wink]

My Dad had one for a minute. It was a cool around town car, but it ate the battery pretty quickly. Especially if using the AC in the summer and not driving like a turd.
I think a hybrid Camry is much better car all around, and they can picked up cheap.

We all gonna die and our fifties are going to be crushed. So I like these fuel efficient cars because it will make gas prices go down. In Addition, the middle east will be broke.

unless the lease rate is super low (under 150?) I'd rather get a volt.

at least the volt has a damn comfy interior and you can drive it anywhere with the gas range extender. If you charge it at work you can still get 35 miles range off that in electric.

used 2012 volt's off lease can be had for $15k with 30k miles, or a new one can be leased for about $200/mo...

I find it hilarious as well. I enjoy getting 40 MPG out of my daily. I stopped trying to be cool driving around in a high performance car on the street where i have to be stuck in traffic and drive with the flow of traffic on the highway and fill up every other day.

At least stick to a Ford. What is a leaf cost like $30K? I believe you can get a brand new Ford Fusion Hybrid for like 25K_msrp. Gets about 40/41 type of gas mileage and puts that leaf (probably one of the ugliest cars in the world with those big bug eye headlights) to shame.
