I have a 88 notch that I'm putting together , the old owner told me the dash lights didn't work do I started messing with it and found out that the little pigtail harness wires that go to the dimmer were all wrapped in tape and burned . Has anyone else encountered this problem? Don't know if I should try to fix it or just get another harness?

Check fuse 13. Its a 5 amp fuse. Mustangs came with crappy wiring so the damn headlight switch and others tend to go. Sometimes adding relays helps alot. I seen a forum and i only skimmed through it and dude has exact same prob as u. Might help.

Head right for the headlight switch. They burn up and need to be slave relayed. I have been installing relays in these circuits for years to fix this issue. Also i never run the dash lights through the dimmer. I provide full 12Volts to the dash lights without the option of dimming.
Here we go this is how it is done. It also includes the fog lights as well if they are an option on your car
Here is the issue a burned connector

Yeah all my dimmer wires are all fried and the first thing I did was replace the fuse. From the headlight switch I seen two wires that were cut I don't know if there supposed to be cut or if the old guy cut them
