I was putting in 10 40 and am was told to try 20 50. I currently use Castrol. Any more suggestions on weight? 89 lx. with bolt ons.

I would only use 20-50 if it leaks or if its burning oil

I didn't see too much of a difference between the oils, so I just stuck with 10-30W. I'm considering going to 20-50 this summer just to see if I'll notice a difference now. Either way, just pour the oil in and don't worry about it. It'll run forever this way.
