Awesome day at the track! Previous best ET- 13.93@99.999mph. Knew that some decent driving could lower it, but not this much! Mid 70's by the end of the day.1st run- Launch 4500rpm, 19psi, shift at 5000rpm. 60ft- 1.97 ET- 13.875 @ 98.67mph Nice improvement. 2nd- 4500rpm launch, 18psi- shift at 5200rpm 60ft- 2.101- bog ET- 13.984 @ 99.476mph -seems to like more rpm. 3rd-(actually last run) got greedy, 17 psi and 5000rpm launch- spun. 60 ft- 2.219 ET- 13.912 @ 100.7mph shifted at 5500rpm- likes it! Best run- lauch at 4500rpm, 18psi, shifted at 5300rpm. 60ft- 1.937 I2- 5.613 I3- 8.708 @ 79.873 I4- 11.370 ET- 13.636 @ 100.486 WOOO HOOOO!!! Cannot friggen believe it! Talk about exceeding my goal of a 13.7x!!! An electric fan and exhaust and 13.5's, here I come! Mod's not listed in Sig- C&L 76mm MAF w/ tube, 1.72 rockers (both mods netted nothing when car was an AOD), Flowtech shorty headers- rest of exh. stock. Ran on the American Racer dirt track tires. Not bad for a 101k 5.0, eh? Chirag was there w/ Project 11.99 ('67Stang), and Victor w/ Project 460 (a '69 Mach 1 w/ crate 460) ran 11.08, Brian in his Vert. did well and Mark in his '01(?) GT also was happy with his results. Chirag almost hit the wall after spinning thru some water or oil on the track and still hit a 12.65 w/ a best of 12.53 with the car detuned for street driving. Enough chatter- need to go get another Coronita...

Good job! Thats a pretty good ET for the MPH and 60 ft. Where you power shifting? 13.5's are easily hidden in your 60 ft. Electric fan, 1.80 60 foot and you'll be hitting some 13.4X's. Brian- what did you run?

No power shifting- just fast clutch work, fast shifts and a little bit of throttle lift. Need this tranny to last a while!JL

in order: 12.719 @ 107.070 w/1.774 60ft 12.761 @ 106.973 w/1.797 60ft 12.718 @ 107.038 w/1.775 60ft 12.713 @ 107.214 w/1.778 60ft 12.515 @ 107.952 w/1.683 60ft The last run was my all-time best (with cats installed) my 12.3x's were all run w/off road H-pipe Best part was that I DROVE it home !!! (No tow truck needed) LOL But once I got home and checked on a driveline noise I was hearing on the way home and found that I destroyed ANOTHER front U-joint (just replaced it Thursday !!) The driveshaft is too long and is binding up when the suspension travels Time for a shortened driveshaft. Brian

BTW, I am still on the same stock suspension as before. I still haven't gotten the new control arms. Actually, I haven't even ordered them Brian

Brian- Those cats are causing you to lose 4 MPH? Wow. Stock H pipe or aftermartet high flows? Jim- So nothing more than highter shift points gave you that 0.5 mph improvement?

Technically, I have only lost 2.190 mph (110.142 - 107.952) I am using a Bassani X-pipe w/cats Also take into consideration that with the extra weight of the steel bellhousing, and TKO which is an extra 74 lbs. I have no idea if the cats and extra weight slowed me down or not, But at least it is a good excuse Brian

Yup- No other changes. The car did not run any faster when shifting the AOD higher than 5100- but now seems to like 5500 w/ the T5. Guess that's why they call it test & tune...JL ps- best mph=100.7! [ November 18, 2001: Message edited by: FasterDamnit ]

Brain- I forgot your trap speeds... 2 mph is about right then. I see stock suspension 1.5X 60 fts in your future. Jim- You're an off road H pipe and electric fan away from 102+ mph traps! Interesting note on the higher shift points, I'll have to try that the next time I go (long time from now). Then again my tired valve train might not like that idea.
Make sure you fill me in on any other tips and tricks you find test'n and tune'n all these weekends.
