Originally posted by 93PONY: [QB] Advise her as a good parent should and fully support whatever decision she makes. Personally I'd follow my dreams. If I didn't AED would not exist. My family told me I'd fail, said it was foolish to start a business without a higher degree. They looked down on me for following my dreams and not following their advice. They 'fear' for the well being of my kids to this day. Hell, I don't think my Mother has ever stepped foot in the shop. 10 years going strong and I'm by far the most successful person in the family. They can eat crow. I'm putting their asses in a home when the time comes. (Not necessarily for this, but other reasons as well.) You don't want your daughter thinking that about you Tony. However I do have a word of caution. Since I had no backup, no one to fall back on it was Sink or Swim. I fucking swam, but there is no motivation like knowing if you fail you're ass is on the street and so are the ones that depend on you. There's a fine line between support and 'support' if you know what I mean. You need to support her decision, but supporting her financially is path you don't want to go down, it's unhealthy for 30 year olds to have their rent paid by Ma and Pa. These lessons of financial responsibility are best learned now, and they can be the #1 motivating factor of Successful people. [/QB]
