My POS water pump from O'Reillys (MasterPro) just crapped out on me after a whopping 8000 miles. Screw the warranty, I ordered the $120 Motorcraft from the dealer. Was going to order the $75 from Rock Auto but wanted to get the car running without waiting for shipping. Anyway....When I picked it up from the dealership, here's what the sticker said on the pump..... Hope their quality control is still there. [ 2015-04-02, 10:37 AM: Message edited by: Marks93 ]

Hey Mark93,
Did you get that waterpump directly from Ford? That isn't even coming up as a registered part number for any Mustang. What vehicle did you buy it for?
This is the part number for a foxbody ( 86-93 ) Part # - M-8501-C50
Let me know if this helps,
Thanks,

Huh?
Got it directly from the Ford dealership parts department. It seemed to fit perfectly on my '93 5.0.
Now you're making me a bit nervous. I just installed it last night but haven't added the coolant just yet as I'm rebuilding my PS pump before buttoning it up and starting it.
Must be a Chinese part number?? [ 2015-04-02, 11:35 AM: Message edited by: Marks93 ]

Hey Marks93,
Did a little bit a research for you regarding this. It looks like Ford sold you a factory replacement water pump for a 94-95. While, it is a Factory original part, it is not made in America. Here's a picture of a 94-95 water pump I have in stock:
Here's the water pump they should've sold you:
The above water pump is a Ford Racing part and is made in America.
Anywho, I hope this information helps!
Thanks,

Thanks Michael....I think!!
Being a 5.0 in the '94/95 as well, I don't think there will be an issue? Shouldn't be much difference in the two right?? I would assume they both flow the same.
I'll certainly be pissed if this doesn't work and demand a refund in the cost of the new coolant! (and charge THEM $125/hour in labor)!
Maybe I'll look on the box and see what it says....when I get home. Curiosity's got me here. [ 2015-04-02, 02:58 PM: Message edited by: Marks93 ]

Marks93,
Here's what I would do. If my memory serves me right, the 87-93 are a "standard length" water pump. I believe the 94-95 has a shorter shaft.
Given that information:
Part # - M-8501-C50 = STANDARD SHAFT AND BEARING size. ( The one you need )
Part # - M-8501-D50 = SHORTER SHAFT AND BEARING size ( The one you have )
I would definitely triple check everything to make sure you're working with the correct parts before proceeding any further.
let me know if you have any further questions,
Thanks,

I'll do that. Thanks Michael. I hadn't installed the pulley yet and was going to do that tonight. That should tell.
The only other website I could find it on was foureyedpride where someone was mentioning the same thing back in 2011. http://vb.foureyedpride.com/showthread.php?114793-ford-waterpump [ 2015-04-02, 03:50 PM: Message edited by: Marks93 ]

The fox 5.0 and SN95 5.0 water pumps are completely different pumps and are not interchangeable. The picture of the pump he purchased is for a 86-93 fox

Thanks Tim. Although it's not that big of a job, I really don't want to do it again. I'll check everything as soon as I get home, including the box. It does look like the one I took off, well, looks a lot better made and nicer looking.

Marks93,
I could see where it could confuse a few people though.
At least we got this all figured out!
Thanks,
Michael.

Well, after putting on the WP pulley and PS Pump, everything lines up, but I still haven't added the fluid yet and fired it up. When your granddaughter is over and asks "Grandpa, can you push me on the swing", how can you resist!!
Thanks for pointing this stuff out to me. I really do appreciate your thought and concerns. As you can see, I was kind of disappointed when I saw the "China" sticker on it.

Well, hopefully they're not all alike and you got a good one. The O'Reilly's one on my 95 F150 5.0L has been on there for about 3 years now (when I swapped that motor) without incident. You never know....even with the Motorcraft ones. I hope I'm just taking the lesser risk route.

Mark I saw your car, went cross eyed had a bowl movement and jizzed on my leg! Your car is so fucking beautiful. Never in my life seen a such an eye catching car that looks bone stock haha! Dead serious, just go 5 lug and put saleens on it and you'll be done! Thanks for the complements. Few more parts to buy/order/hunt down, and I'll feel happy
