Is it legal to have an unregistered vehicle in your driveway? What are the rules with that? On pavement? Under a cover? Got a complaint today.

Complaint from who? A neighbor, cops or HOA? As long as it's not on the street, then it's legal, however, it may violate CC&R or HOA rules for your development.

Code enforcement. It is parked partially in the dirt and my driveway. He said it has to be out of there or registered within 3 weeks.
So as long as its in my driveway (completely) it can be completely unregistered? Or does it have to be non op registered?

I think It has to be on pavement, cant park on dirt or grass. If you have it in your diveway you should be fine

I had that before years ago and it was on cement/covered. Was not good enough, had to move it or put in the garage.

from my experience I would have to say its illegal to have an unregistered car regardless of the location. By law you have to Non-op a vehicle.

So it sounds like maybe your neighbor called it in? Do you have several (appear to be) inoperable cars on your property?
If not, i would assume if you had your car covered completely and its in your driveway, then its outta sight outta mind

u can have an unregistered car in your driveway depending on the city
its different in each city
san jose can have unregistered cars in drive way as long as they run and can move forward and reverse
u need to check with your city to see the law

All you need to do is flip it over and light it on fire and you'll look like an east Oakland neighborhood
