I want to get my 302 rebuilt into a 306. What are some good combinations for drag racing. I dont want any thing too crazy because its my daily driver and still need it to pass smog. I would really appreciate the advice! Thanks

Welcome to the site. A few things first. 1.You should introduce yourself to the site first preferably with a pic of your car "blur licence plates"if not a pic of your girlfriend will do. 2. Neight runs this site and is in charge of all smog related hook ups.

Lol jk. In order to answer your question realistically, we need info about your car. Efi,carb, your budget "h/c/i or bolt-ons", whats your current set up, year and body style would be nice. Also nothing is special about a 306 cmpared to a 302 your goanna mostlikey get heavier piston, unless its a built 306 then your talking $$$$
Also are you mechanically inclined? Or your on your first mustang project?

He wants a smog set up. I believe gt40p's dont have smog hook ups, but the gt40 heads do.
To throw a smog set up out there how about... Edelbrock performer heads and intake, 1.7 rr w/ stock cam or 1.6rr with e-cam or tfs1 cam, a/c delete, pulleys, greased muffler bearing, bbk 70mm tb + spacer, mac headers, sn95 fuel rails, cai,
If you want to push a smog legal setup you might get away with 24-30lb injectors, fpr, 255 fuel pumpand some head work... Maybe put it on the bottle for the "track" 50-75shot
Just my opinion.... Oyea dont go stock internals, shoot i even regret going with hyp pistons and not forged [ 2014-01-10, 07:36 PM: Message edited by: Stangn5oh ]

Just trash that ol' 302, because they are only good when used as a boat anchor. Next up, replace it with the holy grail of Mustangness, the 96-98 NA 32V! Everyone who is someone that bleeds that good ol' Ford Blue knows they are touched by the hands of god & are far superior to any other motor shoved between the shock towers of a Mustang!!!
Jk.... Welcome to Cafords [ 2014-01-11, 12:02 AM: Message edited by: *EPIK* ]

To the Op, I know some good local engine builders that can get you a nice SBF built for your car, in whatever combo you like.
