YES graduate the grits on up to 2000+ WET... THEN A lot of people don't think about this. Do the same thing with rubbing/polishing compounds course to fine... this sounds like it will take more time, but with the right machine/tools (dremel, buffer, DA, whatever) it'll go quick and eliminate the fine scratches. THEN if you dont wanna do it all over again. Eastwood makes a good product for clear coating bare metal that I've had great success with.
