I haven't really been a fan of the styling of the 05+ saleens. Although that motor sounds legit!

Very nice car on paper. The '13 Shelby is also a "351" so it will be interesting to find out exactly what 351 Saleen engine is going to be put in the car. I don't think it will be a GT500 killer..., but Saleen does have the advantage as the specs are already well known with the current Shelby and I am sure he has keyed off that to at least match those same numbers.

Sounds Exciting to say the least. I think CobramanPhil hit on the fact that Saleen will use of the 13 GT500 engine. A Saleen Supercharger and a more aggresive tune should easily hit the advertised HP numbers.

pretty sure they'll master the launch control and have an irs in the back of it for track use too and so far probably the same engine as the gt500

As far as I know, the motor in the 351 is going to be a forged stroker Coyote 5.0... lighter than the GT500 5.8, with the more advanced architecture of the new Coyote. The 5.8 in the GT500 is still the same basic architecture as the previous 5.4L mod motors... just bigger bore I think.
The new Saleen 351 will most likely be a monster. 700hp, lighter weight than a GT500. Better suspension. Better aerodynamics. Most likely the same 15" 6-piston StopTech brakes from the previous generation S302-E... bigger wider wheels with sticky Pirelli tires.
Only down side will be the price. The current top dog Saleen, the 302 Black Label, starts almost $70k MSRP... So I'd guess this new 351 will be $80k or $90k, before options... [ December 02, 2012, 02:52 AM: Message edited by: 04 S281 ]

They are going to have to closely match the current GT500's front end to get the aerodynamics down. Previous Saleens added bodywork that added to the brick factor when factoring in top speed

And I thought my car was expensive ...new 2013 viper is set at around $97K so these two cars might be in the same price range:eek:
