grant are far and few these days. best thing you can try is a small business loan. which are pretty hard in themselves to get. do you have a solid business plan? check your local small business development center. have you tried family and friends? i ask because banks will ask that too. but everything is hinged on a solid business plan.
i am posting this from my DSi

If you wanna look it up online, there's a grant similiar to the small business loan. The state of california is encouraging people to open businessess right now. Look up california busniess grant and they'll give you info on it. My cousin looked up a bunch of info on that when he wanted to open a hookah lounge. They actually make it really easy for you to get qualified.

See if you have a local chapter SCORE or Angel's chapter. Angels are a group of investors but they have guidelines. I would also tell you to get involved with your local JC or Uni's small business development center. I am sure you have one if you have Uni's in your area. If you want to do this it will require lots of leg work, denials and tons of research. I started as a small business so I feel your pain. Getting funding is hard in this economic time, but there is no better time to start a business. SOme of the greatest most successful business's were started in the toughest economic times.
Good luck

Sorry yes JC is Junior College and Uni is University. There are almost always lots of resources located in those 2 places for entrepreneurs.
Good luck, it is not easy but a rewarding process being a successful small business.

It is a good time to start a buisness since everything is cheap (rent etc...) but this only applies if you have the cash to start your buisness.

I just gave you hella resources of where to start
Plus a google search of "small business grants" pulled up all kinds of info. If you are looking for someone to hold you hand through it, it really wont get done. Not saying you are asking that now, but I just pretty much gave you the path I took to get my grants. Yet you still want more assistance
