Two times in a row!! Random sampling my ass, why do I have the feeling they will make me go to test only stations from here on out.

Its probably not a random sampling(only 2% are random sampling), the rest are called HEP's (high emitter profile). According to the states statistics cars like yours (ie 5.0 or 4.6 mustangs from 19xx-19xx or whatever) are more likely to fail a smog check, so those cars get sent to Test Only's. So unless the states satistics change your car will probably stay on the test only list. Shop around for a good price, they do vary and they're comming down. Might want to call ahead and see how knowledgable/mod friendly the tech is, some freak even with CARB #'s. Good luck

My 93 coupe was called in to test-only twice in a row. The same for my brother's 93GT...
That's 4 test-only between the two of us.
Def makes me wonder wtf is going on. [ September 28, 2005, 12:00 PM: Message edited by: Luke87GT ]

I knew it just wasn't me. People didn't believe me when I told them that I was picked twice for TEST ONLY.
The bottom line: $$$$$$$$$ being sucked out of our pockets.

What Jimbo said. Also if your car is 15+ years old it will always go to test only. I'm told 30% of all other cars get randomly picked for test only. All my Mustangs have been getting test only for the last few years.
And, test only is a real pain since they like to make stuff up and try to avoid testing the car by claiming all kinds of things fail visual. Regardless of whether you have CARB numbers.
My advice if this happens is just drill them on it. We are required to get a smog test. They are required to test it. Just be a pain in the ass until you make them test it.

My wife and I both have 95 Civics as our daily drivers... every smog check we've had to do was a test only since we've owned them. BS if you ask me... but whatever.. their both stock as can be and run fine. I just find it to be funny that a Civic would be considered a "High Emitter Profile".
