[/qb][/QUOTE]nope it was federally funded,, bush said flood protection was one of his main priorities :rolleyes: and you just cant go around destroyin natural marshes dana,, think,, that would be much more destructive to the environment not to mention more costlier than to just retrofit the levees, like what we're doing with the bay bridge.. [/qb][/QUOTE]thats what i read they did they started building into the marshes and filling them in. The marsh land was the land that was below sea level. They built the levees because they wanted to dry that area up to build more. [/QB][/QUOTE]
