Does anyone have one or know a good way to remove the pilot bearing???

Yeah they do have a puller for that. A local tool store or rental place should have it.

I used a slide hammer without any luck... I have a number of friends that also tried the slide hammer method only to fail.

The only way that worked for me was to break it up with a hammer and chissel until it collapsed. The metal on the outer lip breaks up rather easily.

yeah it took me about 30 minutes to get mine out with a chissle and hammer pain in the ass. But it can be done with some patience and time.

I to have used the slide hammer method. On Fasterdamnit's car and we had to stick a wedge in the middle to spread it better to get more of a bite... That is the trick to it!!!

dont' try harder, try smarter!
pack the inside of the pilot bearing with axle grease or bearing grease and use a punch that fits inside snugly, whack at it (pounding the grease into the center of the bearing) with a hammer and the bearing pops right out

hydraulics...

good luck, hope i expained it clearly enough
