Yep, we squeezed out a 10 second pass!

3rd run of the day:
1.551 60ft
7.059 @ 98.519 MPH 1/8th
10.985 @ 125.732mph 1/4

Couldn't get better then a 1.54 60ft no matter what I tried.... & now we've been told by 'the man' to have a roll cage installed before we come back.

Also nice running stoauto & awesome runs for the N/A 347 they brought out! Had a blast runnin'em heads up.

It wasn't too bad. There was a nice old school stang that hit the wall about mid day.
It got a little slow after that. But not more than usual.

Before i left i asked the guy what he was hoping for, he said he was hoping his buddy could get it to go 11.5's, i guess the owner is recovering from a broken back and couldnt drive it himself:confused:

I was the one with the red 88 with black hood and wheels. It was my first run with the 347. Could only get a 13.075 at 109 with a 2.0 60'. I need some good tires. My brother was in the dark green 69 Mach 1. He ran his best of 12.8 at 110.

Good lookin car man, i hear ya on the tires, I was pulling 2.2-2.3 60 foot times in my Cobra. [Mad] Guess my Michillen Pilots arent very good for 1/4 mile performance [Embarrassed]

Post up the specs on that camshaft as well. It's not in the Fordmuscle article....nor the intake/carb/exhaust setup. You're making me want to swap to carb! [Eek!]

Posted by stoauto (Member # 2803) on :

heads are the Competition Ported AFR 165s yes 165s, heads along with the cam were supplied by ford muscle. the cam specs, i'll let chirag tell you that, as to be honest with you i dont know exactly what it is. i did the preperation/balancing of the motor, not the assembly.

the comp ported afrs flow around 10cfm more on the intake @.600 lift over the standard afr 165s the exhaust flows i believe 20cfm more @.600 lift.
[Eek!] [Eek!]

Posted by stoauto (Member # 2803) on :

but heres a quick rundown of the combo...

all forged 347
block was zero decked
10.5:1 comp
afr comp ported 165s
solid roller under .600 lift
coated pistons/bearings coated by polydine
edelbrock air gap intake manifold (this manifolds the shit)we gained around 15-20 hp at the wheels over the weiand xcellerator single plane!
proform 650dp
and of course the motor was assembled by the pros at Robs Auto Machine! [Smile]

13/4 headers with straight 3inch exhaust with the mac mufflers that came with the car.

tranny is a stock t-5 [Eek!] blew up the first one, this one will also have a short life especially with the 6500 rpm launches [Eek!] [Eek!] [Eek!] with a centerforce dual friction clutch [Roll Eyes]

rearend has 4.10s superior axles and a auburn hd carrier. dnd adj coilovers aftermarket upper/lower control arms forgot what brand. subframe connectors.

front suspension is all 4 cyl.

i believe thats it. [patriot]

from the article I read the cam is a crane s238. Brief specs were 238/246 .560/.579 and that's the only numbers given.

Evan, what does that car weigh? Where does it want to shift? Was it ever put on a chasis dyno? What did it make and where did it peak. That's packin some serious heat for some 165's [Eek!] [worship]

Nice car. I'm sure there is tons more in it! [Smile]

I would think the car would be concidered a lightweight. Since it does have the PS, AC, Wipers, Rear seats, and FI removed. Fiberglass hood, narrower wheels and race seats. It does have some add-on's too, SFC, Street roll bar, lakewood bell housing, DS loop, rear control arms, etc. Its been on the dyno a few times, I think it did 380hp last time up. Still has more in it I am sure, that was after we blew though the clutch a few times with Nitrous.

Since the 2 cars were so close ET/MPH, we wanted to get the raceweight of each....but the scales were locked up.
From previous weighing of the wifes car & current mods I'd guess raceweight is around 3200lbs w/driver.

We've removed:
spare tire/jack
smog pump
Moose nuts on the rear end
Front sway bar

and the rest about the cam are secrets that i cant give out [Cool] because i dont even know them lol. some things about this motor my boss just doesn't want to give out. [Frown] but we can build this exact motor for anyone interested. [Smile]

the car i would imagine it to be around 3100-3200 maybe with me in it. thats just a guess though maybe more maybe less. its got the full dash/center console, all panels power windows/locks, and i little 6 point roll bar. no rear seat and two bucket seats up front and what CDT listed above. it still has the stock k member and front suspension, subframes, safety loop and the other stuff that CDT mentioned. oh there is no power steering or ac unit. its just one bad motherfucker. [Big Grin]

Yes the car was put on our chassis dyno we have an 1100hp 200mph mustang dyno to go along with the FULL machine shop. all we did was play with the carb, we never played with the timing at all. this car WILL go faster. it made 381 at the wheels almost over heating after we did 4-5 nitrous pulls. NO we have not ran the car on the bottle at the track YET.

i shift at around 6800. where it made peak i'm not too sure, i'll have to get the dyno sheet. i'll let you all know by tomorrow night.

Nice ET's guys!

The motor build up and engine dyno article is here:

http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2005/05/DynoDuel/

I'm sure you guys are making better/broader torque with the dual plane intake now.

The cam is a mechanical roller 238/246 .560"/.579" 110LSA.

I gotta say though, IF the car weighs 3200lbs, and you dynoed at 380 rear wheel hp... that doesn't ad up to 10.9/124. I'd suspect the race weight to be more like 2800. But I've never see the car... You sure you aint sprayin' about a 75 shot [Wink]

Mustang dyno's usually dyno lower...FWIW It would prolly be well over 400rw on a dyno jet.

BTW, awesome times....

I'm not it the range but almost...11.56
1/8 7.34 mph 94.23

The Density altitude was between 300-400ft above sea level that day.

Unless they had a HUGE bottle hidden somewhere...or were swappin' bottles while hot-lapping.....they weren't sprayin'. MPH was increasing throughout the day....which wouldn't happen if you were running out of bottle from repeated runs down the track.

Nope....not spray, but I do think the car is significantly lighter then 3200lbs.

Last time we weighed 91PONY it was 3050lbs without driver, slicks on 10-holes, & skinnies up front with 3/4 tank of fuel, smog pump, A/C, PS, etc.

Carb setups are lighter in weight then EFI due to many less parts & aluminum...so there's a few pounds there. 10lbs maybe
Fiberglass hood....25-30lbs there.
Windsheild wiper stuff 5-7lbs + empty the fluid reservor for 5lbs
No intereior, front racing seats.....40-50lbs
No AC, PS, smog pump.....40-50lbs
lightweight rear wheels.....30+lbs
Misc other little things like removing the swaybar, etc....hell, I remember when Drew, Aaron, & I removed 100lbs of un-needed weight from Aaron's vert & nobody could tell a difference from looking at it...in the car or under the hood. There's a lot of little things that aren't needed with a Carburator setup VS EFI.

I'd guess the car without driver weighs around 2800lbs.
388RWHP from a mustang dyno.... I'd think 400-410RWHP from a dynojet would get a 3000lb foxbody (w/driver) down the 1/4 in 10.9 seconds at 124mph.

Posted by stoauto (Member # 2803) on :

shaun/chirag are probably right about the weight, probably around 3k with me in it, i'm 200lb. we do still have the front and rear sway bar on though. [Cool] it'll probably make 420 or so on a dyno jet. a shop down the street has a dyno jet 248 i believe, we took a blown ls1 which made 400 on our dyno made 455 ish on there dyno. we'll take the stang over there as soon as we get some time, we've been meaning to do that.

side note: we got 10 runs in that day car damn near over heated EVERY run. back to back runs baby. [Eek!]

Wow! 400 to 455RW!
Damn!

Actually I wouldn't be surprised if your setup dynoed more then Heather's. These reverse-split setups tend to make low dyno power, but run hard at the track for what they have. AVG power & a fast reving motor make up for the lack of peak power #'s.

shitty 3 row copper/brass radiator, and electric fans. we may put and aluminum radiator in it soon enough though. and get rid of the restrictors and put in a thermostat. that'll make a huge difference.
