Looks like Han Solo is not dead, and the Force is strong with this one. Finally took delivery of my 2016 SHelby GT350 with 6 miles on the ticker. Got it from Elk Grove Ford and was an awesome experience. Had it out for the first time at cars & coffee. Then took it up to AED to throw it on the Dyno. Great day overall and the car was well received. if you have the opportunity to buy one, i suggest you do so and don't wait. Totally worth the money. Anyway, onto some pics/videos. These are just base pulls with some cool time. No tune.

@ Ben : I paid 5k over. As did my buddy who got their 2nd allocation.

I was able to deal with the owner of the dealership directly. Gave me his cell number and told me to call him whenever I had questions or concerns. He is a gearhead also and wants the car back for shows. Also is willing to take care of me if any issues arise with the car. No added markups for warranties/service plans. It was a GREAT experience having a dealer 10 miles from me that is that supportive. Also considering selling me an R if he gets an allocation next year.

If you have a chance to deal with them on any car I encourage it. I will get you in contact with the right person if you ever want to get anything from them.

@Robb: You are correct. Cars & Coffee in Folsom. It's a good venue and good people. Great quality and mix of cars also

Well don't keep it a secret man. Do tell!!

@losbadgts/ 135.0 / 9cobra7: thanks gentleman. The car is pretty much my dream car. First new car I've ever bought, and was lucky enough to be able to afford it. It puts a smile on my face whenever I get the chance to drive it.

Thanks bro. I'm planning to attend the GT350 track attack this year. Once I'm more comfortable with the car I will have to link up with you for some track time.

@CobraTerritory: thanks for the props bro. You going to Knotts this year? Love to see your car in person again

Thanks Dave. I forgot about how much of a resource you were. Had I hit you up when I was first in the market I might have gotten that MSRP deal. When I looked at what some guys paid to ship their cars from out of state the savings were only 1-2k from what I paid though.

Anyway, we gotta get together soon and chat it up. Maybe Snakes at the lake if you go this year, if not sooner

Sounds good, T. I might be able to bring the Boss out for Snakes at the Lake. Jenn sold her Cobra last year though.

Thanks guys. The Whipple results were nuts!! I am going to keep mine stock for the warranty. Ford is developing a Trak Key for this car so I will see what that brings.

Anyone have any experience with the clear bra process. I am going back and forth between Xpel and 3M. I don't want to drive the car anymore until i get one on there.

Dont get me wrong, I love the stripes but damn, That white would look AMAZING stripeless.

Also, Its absolutely amazing how much the hood changes everything i hate about the GT. I hate the regular S550 hood, Makes the front end look big and bulky.

Yeah I got the idea for the red stripe from the 350R models. Don't want to make a clone, but the styling cues from that car are impressive.

The car continues to amaze. Surprising how many random people I meet out and about that know about the car or saw it at SEMA

These wheels are a forged replica of the R wheels. Same specifications as factory, but not CF. The OEM wheels are like 8k [Eek!]

Yeah I plan on being there. I have to drop the car off Thursday for the clear bra. Should be ready to go Friday afternoon I hope. Also planning to hit cars/coffee on Sunday. You bringing out something special?

I did see those proposed changes for 2017. It will be cool to have all the coolers standard. I hear ford is producing a setup for the tech pack cars based on the track/350R packages. Crazy that they may be getting rid of comp orange also. That color is going to be rare

Funny. Competition Orange was one of the most common colors on the Boss 302.

I'll just be bringing the STi. I'm heading up to Placerville afterwards to meet a few folks for some fun in the canyons and then lunch.

Looking forward to checking out your GT350.

Damn T, the modding starts already! Nice brother, the stripes really set off the color combination nicely! What are those clutch springs for? Stiffer pedal feel?

I could only dream about owning a car like that...maybe once the kids are out of school I can buy a lightly used one [Frown]

Posted by 50 Deep (Member # 6216) on :

Got all the parts on today. Took about 2 hours total. Pretty easy installs with great benefits. Will share some thoughts on each and pics/vids where i have them

Steeda Clutch Helper Spring: Took about 10 minutes to install total. Would have been faster had i done it before. Real straight forward process, but I think our cars have a second helper spring that the normal S550 cars don't have. I couldn't find a picture of it online, but you will see once you get in there. The results of the upgrade are great. I have much better feel for where the clutch engages, and still have the assist with a light clutch pedal. Also no rattle or play in the pedal. I recommend it, would buy it again, and its $10 well spent.

Redline Hood Struts: This install took about 15 minutes total. The little struts hold the hood well and will raise the hood on their own once you are about half way up. Install is super easy and worth the money. would post a picture, but you have all seen them. I sprung for the upgraded set and would buy again.
- - -

Diode Dynamics LED Interior Lights: These little puppies changed the lighting of the interior dramatically. Everything is way bright now and the cool white is awesome. I ended up unscrewing and taking off the sun visor mirror to get at the vanity bulbs. You can spend 15 minutes trying to fish out the little vanity bulbs, then another 10 trying to finesse the new ones in. Or spend 5 minutes unscrewing and popping off the mirror plate to make it much easier. Here are some after pics. This is just LED lighting, no camera flash. I would by again.

- - -

Diode Dynamics Reverse Light: I went for the upgraded model. Install took about 15 minutes. Way easier than the video i saw on CJ Pony Parts as they took too many steps. I just unbolted the 2 13mm screws, removed the 6 or so push pins, and removed the 2 larger push pins. The cover drops down in the rear enough for you to easily change the bulb without removing the front two bolts on the cover, or putting the car up in the air. You may have a little tighter space if you have the diff cooler. I would buy it again for sure. Here is a video of the reverse light and an exhaust clip.

https://youtu.be/j3O9wn5H0FU

Diode Dynamics Switchback Turn Signals: These lights were a little expensive but they turned out fantastic. The passenger side was easy enough to change since you can reach down through the opening behind the bumper. Driver side will require removing a few clips on the splash guard and wiggling past one of the coolers. Turn the wheel to the right for more clearance. I opted for amber LED parking lamps from Superbrightleds.com, instead of the cool white Diode offers. You still get the look of a clear housing, but i like having some amber lighting to the front. Here is a video of them operating. I would buy these again as well

DMV required all new car dealers to start processing their new vehicle report of sales on their own. Either in house, or through a registration service. Cuts down on the time frame buyers have to wait for plates drastically

I had the personalized plates from my 73 Celica I built and sold last year.

Got the car back from Elk Grove Ford. They took care of all the rock chips and the paint booger on the hood no questions asked, or cost to me. Really glad I bought the car there.

Genesis tint in Elk Grove sent me a few pics of the progress for the clear bra install. Can't wait to pick it up in the morning!!

Thanks Ian. I am planning to go to the track attack program Ford has for the owners of these vehicles. Once I get that under my belt I will start taking her out to some events

@Sic9250: Thanks for the well wishes man. Hope everything is good with you and yours.

@Built88LX: Appreciate the kind words man!

Got the car back from the clear bra install at Genesis. Came out real seamless. I had them wrap the car from the A-pillar forward, edges of the doors, and a little something extra on the mirrors. Came out to about 1800 total, but now i do not hesitate on driving the car. The clear bra really made the stripes POP!! If you are in the greater sacrament area I would recommend them.

-
-

Then I took the car out to Euro Sunday. I had the only one out there and it was a hit. Wish I could have taken the afternoon drive, but had to get back to some family stuff. Had the chance to meet up with one of the guys who organizes the Hooked on Driving events. Looking forward to getting out with that group. Here are few pics from that event.

Now just waiting for the spoiler and oil separators to arrive. Wheels should be here at some point before the Knotts show. Then still need to decide what to do about the brake calipers. That will probably wrap it up for modifications, then just focus on driving and paying off this bad boy.

The spoiler came in today with the oil separators and coolant tank cover. Looks like the spoiler is all prepared and ready to install from Ford. It even comes with a template for the install if your trunk lid does not have holes.

- - - - -

I also got the oil separators and coolant expansion tank on today. Both the oil separators installed fairly easy. About 45 minutes total for everything. Here is a before shot.

-

For the passenger side separator the moving of the wires is super simple. It literally involves pushing them over a few inches to install the tabs, then that is it. The passenger side loom clips back into the separator bracket. For both separators i would advise getting all the tubes connected first, then lock down the separator. The instructions recommend you mount the separator first, then do the connections. I found it harder to get the connections in place with the separators installed, and had to loosen them back up.

The tank cover was pretty easy to install also and does clean up the engine bay a lot. The quality of the plastic is not quite what i expected for the price, but it does serve its purpose. For the install I can see the plastic needs to be a little pliable.

-

The driver side is super easy also. These slip fittings on the tubes are a sinch. The driver side recommends trimming the sound deadening on one of the push pin tabs on the shock tower. I just reused the plastic push pin that originally came out since it was longer. If i need to at some point it will lightly trim the sound deadening and install the new one. The amount you need to trim is only a few mm at most.

-

I should have the spoiler installed Wednesday or Thursday depending on my time after work.

Track Pack Spoiler is on

- - - -

While driving home I had some goober behind me in a cutlass honking his horn and rolling his hands like he wanted me to spin the tires. I guess it is the new spoiler. People riding behind me with their phones out taking pics/videos. Another good day for the Shelby. Hope this info was helpful. I do not do many write ups so those of you with better ideas or specifics feel free to add them. Or if you have a better way of doing it.

Looks like the only other mods to go are the wheels and brake calipers

Why didn't you opt for the larger R spoiler?

The OEM spoiler costs about 7k is the main reason. Plus I would need the R front splitter to balance it out and the price on that is unknown. Projections are in the 2-3k range

The aftermarket has some R knock offs, but they mount too far to the rear and require drilling/filling holes in the trunk. The knock offs also don't have the same dimensions/proportions. It's just a hassle to do.

Not to throw a turd in the punch bowl but several people who have run the tech or base package cars at the track are overheating the transmission and going into limp mode.

WTF Ford!

BTW love the car. It's on my short list of cars to buy in the next couple years.

I've been reading up on that. The tech/base cars weren't designed for sustained track use, and ford recommends you add them if that is your plan. That track package is what guys should buy if they plan on long track use. I bought a tech package since I plan on 95% street use, so it's not an issue for me.

Ford and a couple other companies are working on cooler upgrades for the tech/base cars that should be around toward the end of the year.

The car is sick though. Get one brother!!

Newest mods for the Shelby arrived. Not sure when I will install these lol. The Recaro car seat fits pretty well and matches the interior. We have two other 4 doors for family duty. Now at least I have the option to take the little guy along if we decide to drive to Utah for the GT350 Track Attack, Bakersfield for the GT350 Track Tour, or just out to a car show with the little guy.

Cute kid brother! He's gonna love that Recaro seat. Both my son and daughter had one and are now my son is on the last end of it with a Recaro booster. They're costly, but from what they've said, very comfortable and look cool!

What is the folder looking thing? What kind of "mod" is that lol!

Ian, the new mod is the baby bro!!

The pouch is just all the owners information that comes with the car. Nice touch how the keys are engraved with the cobra logo also. Got lucky and found the recaro seat on sale. Good thing is it goes from infant to like 40 lbs

Ah yes, the baby is the mod! Definitely a nice touch to an awesome car lol!

Your son looks a bit too small for that forward-facing seat though. I think he has to be about 12 months or so before he gets out of the rear facing seat...unless laws have changed in the last couple years.

Regardless, congrats on the new son and new car seat

You can slide the bottom of the base on a track. It allows the seat to recline and can be used as a reverse infant seat.

Then you can slide it up to use as a forward facing. It's pretty legit.

Had a few odds and ends show up. Some expected, some not.

Got a few items in the mail. An invitation to the Track Tour which I will be attending at Buttonwillow. Also got a cool little owners pamphlet from Ford. Nothing GT350 specific, but cool. Last thing was a hand written thank you card from Steeda. I have NEVER gotten something like this from a parts company. I can say that the small amount of time and postage just earned them a customer for life.

- - -

Parts wise I ordered some LED Diode Dynamics side maker lights. I installed them today in about 15 minutes. They look much better than the stock halogen bulbs. Wish Ford would have just gone all out with the LED's on the car, but it probably also kept the price down. Either way I think it was $80 well spent and I am happy with the quality and looks.

I know man. The markup game is crazy. some of them are starting to move at 2-5k over, but it is still rare. If this is an indication of how next year will go then the 2017's will be sold even faster.

Went to Cars & Coffee this past weekend. Beautiful day. Saw this sick RWB Porsche. First one I have seen in person. I have seen build videos online, but the quality in person is stunning

My brother @dTb also finally took delivery of his Competition Orange GT350 that he also ordered from Elk Grove Ford. Needless to say he is excited. Took a couple pics with his car and a few others out there. @Swedensky also had his all white GT350. Grins ear to ear

Then I spent a little too long at the car show while the wife was at home with the baby. Soooooo it cost me a manicure/pedicure and I decided to put the car on ice for a few days to stay out of trouble

Yeah the rain kept all my extra curricular activities to a minimum also. You bringing the Boss to snakes at the lake this year?

@Adower: These are the OEM calipers from the GT350R. Same as the GT350, but coated red from Brembo...

Calipers came in and I got a chance to look them over. They are HUGE. I found a few more scratches and Knicks than I would like so I spent a little time touching them up. It is raining so I enjoyed a quiet night inside after the fam went to sleep

Wanted to install these myself but won't have time before Knotts. Taking it to my buddies shop to get it handled. If I can get off work early enough during the week I will pop in and help do the install.

I will text you with the event info. It's a bad ass cruise and all around good day. The wife even looks forward to it every year and she isn't into cars at all.

@iceman302: Dave you gotta bring the Boss my friend. I will bring chocolate milk for your daughter since I owe you breakfast anyway. To be honest now that I have a little one or two to look after I can't blame you for not wanting to drag the kids out for all day run. They are work bro!

Got the car up on the rack for the caliper install. If you ever have the chance to get up under your car, or someone elses GT350, spend some time looking over the underbody. Ford did some good engineering with this car. I could stand under it for an hour and admire the thought the went into it.

-

Also got my coil covers back from my good buddies paint shop. had them done in DIB to match the stripes. My problem now is figuring out how to apply color to the recessed "powered by ford" and borders. Anyone have a creative solution?

I'm waiting to hear back from my dealer about an R allocation. If they get one then I will sell my car to get the unicorn. Otherwise I see this one staying.

I see your point about keeping the stock stuff though. I am going to do some research at Knotts to see what other people have had done and new techniques for brake coloring. If I see something inspiring I might have these redone. If I am still on the fence I will hang them on the wall as decoration until I can decide for sure

Ian I feel you brother! I am going to the GT350 Track Tour in May down in buttonwillow, so it should give me some seat time in track pack and R model. Then I am going to the 2 day GT350 Track Tour at Utah Motorsports Park in July. When I get those under my belt I will take my own car out to rail on.

By fall this year Ford should have the transmission/differential cooler setup available for the technology package GT350's. Then I can hot lap her all day without worrying about tripping any temp sensors. When I do I will hit you up. I made contact with one of the instructors from Hooked on Driving and a few from Track Mustangs Online so I can get shown the ropes.

Glad to hear that you have hose trackdays planned. You could/should also look into running with NASA. They provide instructors for level 1 and 2 as well. Their trackdays are, in my opinion, organized very well. Their instructors are real racers and I have had a great experience with their instructors in the past.

I also liked Trackmasters' trackdays as they weren't crowded and also provided instructors for beginner levels. Look into other local clubs outside of Ford specific events because they will likely be priced better and you'll learn a lot from their instructors. Definitely let me know when you start hitting the tracks...I would love to come out and play [Wink]

Yes they are combing the two. Sticker price now is higher though and your staring at basically what the track pack cost. Then add 3k to get the electronics/convenience. Or have a 2016 tech pack and spend a grand or two to add the coolers that ford will be releasing. In the end both routes will cost about the same...

Got the brakes on and bled. Took a couple pics at 3am before we left for Knotts. If any of the so cal guys are out and about in their GT350 shoot me a PM

Do the GT350's come with another wheel color?choice than black? I notice there all the same in the pics.

Fortunately and unfortunately black is the only option. These brakes throw off a TON of dust during normal driving, and I can't even imagine how they would look after a track day. Ford went with black to make the dusting less obvious for owners that don't want to clean their wheels after every drive.

Rumors of a gunmetal color were going around for 17', but that appears to have been only a rumor

Have a little bit of an update. I got to attend the track tour at Buttonwillow race way. Had a hell of a time and thoroughly enjoyed driving the DIB R model. I will upgrade to the R at some point when all the stars align. I snapped a few pics from that event. Also had Jim Owens, Mark Schaller, and my FP driving instructor sign the strut tower brace. They enjoyed seeing the custom Coil Covers.

- - - - - -

After driving the R I knew I wanted to delete the resonators. I am fortunate enough to live about 45 minutes from AED so I had Drew weld in some stainless steel exhaust pipe in place of the resonators. It cost a little more but I wanted quality material and welds. Drew took the time to drop the entire exhaust, weld around the entire pipe. He also was able to cut/modify the stock heat shield so it could be retained and welded it back on. His welding ability is MONEY. Car sounds great by the way

Lastly the wife went to IKEA and picked up a frame for me to mount my GT350 photo from. This is the print that is included in the owners supplement.

First off want to give a big thanks to Chris at Carbon 2 Carbon. They are a great company and he is a great guy to deal with. Always available for questions before, during, and after purchase. Also helped me trouble shoot the install by text, phone, and email. I would buy more of their parts for sure. I got to see their carbon fiber R spoiler this weekend in Tahoe on Rick from Track Mustangs Online race red 350 and it is a beauty also.

Install of the splitter took some time since it was my first time and dealing with carbon fiber that i was afraid to break. It probably took me 4-5 hours total to get it just right. It would maybe take half that the second time around. The quality is legit though. Make sure to contact Chris at Carbon 2 Carbon if you want one. I ordered mine with the red shelby lettering and a clear bra applied before shipping.

Anyway onto the pics. A couple were taken in Lake Tahoe over the weekend at the Team Shelby "Snakes At The Lake" cruise. The others were snapped locally.

- - - - - -

Also came across this lady who makes cool pixelations at a special event i was working. I had her make a few items for me so I can make a mobile for the kid. Also had her do one of the car just to see how it turned out. It looks better or worse depending on how long I look at it. Pretty cool though.

Dude your a mind reader. On 80 now with another 250 miles to go. We are planning to hit Zion national park too. Heard it had a lot of great landmarks to see. Might steal your idea about 120. Does it add a lot to the trip?

What race event are you doing?

Dont know if it adds time, I'll let you know on Wednesday lol, never made this trip before. I'm driving my '16 GT out there, so hopefully I'll make pretty good time.

Zion national park is on almost every single "Top ten drives in the US" list, so I thought it would be worth the detour on the way back. I've also heard Bryce Canyon is amazing as well. Will you still be there on Wednesday/Thursday? If so I'll buy you a beer, I'd love to check out your GT350 in person.

I'll be doing the 2 day race school on Thursday and Friday

I wish I could say I was getting another ride sometime soon but it's probably not a reality. I am in the process of house hunting right now. My next car will most likely be something newer though when the time comes. C6 Z06, gtr, gt350. Something along the line of that.

Dave is a great guy and he has some wicked cars. I'm assuming that you were looking at his PW '12 Boss 302.

Well I decided to tackle adding the ZL1 add ons Splitter Guard Washers. These are designed for the ZL1/Z06 cars, but I thought they would work on our car as well and decided to give them a shot. I had given the splitter a couple minor scratches already and want it to last.

Initially I was dreading the install and drilling into the Carbon2Carbon R front splitter. With most DIY projects I expected it to take forever having to measure and mark out places to strategically place the washers, but once the car was up in the air I was pleasantly surprised

I heard the Carbon2Carbon products were a direct copy of the OEM molds, but I was never sure of that. When I got under the car I noticed that the factory locations where the OEM R splitter would normally have riveted washers was still there! These little nubs made it easy to reuse as drill locations for the new washers. The only down side was the kit comes with 15 washers, and you need 17 total to use in all the factory locations. Kudos to Carbon2Carbon for definitely having OEM quality parts.

-

15 minutes later I had the holes drilled and the washers fastened. Hardest part of the whole ordeal was getting the car on and off of the Race Ramps now that the R splitter affects the ground clearance angle.

[ -

I would say the ZL1 addons washers are worth the investment and the countersunk head makes sure your screws don't get jacked if you happen to kiss the pavement. If you order them go through Amazon for cheaper shipping, or call them direct to try and order the extra needed washers.

Posted by SydeWaySix (Member # 3596) on :

Terrence, I saw your post on TMO regarding these. Won't these get knocked off if you end up bottoming out your splitter and scrape regardless? What would really be bad is if these "protectors" get caught on something and end up tearing a hole or cracking your CF splitter. Hopefully that won't happen, but something to consider.

Posted by 50 Deep (Member # 6216) on :

The conical shape hopefully will prevent from them getting caught. The OEM splitters come with a round washer riveted in for the same reason. If they contact the ground the thought is they will ground down and slide across the pavement

Nice pics, T! Both cars look great! Are Rick's wheels black or the same gunmetal color as yours? I'd love to see what those wheels look like on a Boss. It seems that most guys who swap the stock Boss wheels go with Forgestars, so I wouldn't even touch those anymore.

As requested [Big Grin]

Things have been super busy lately. Work, family, and car. I had the good fortune of getting in contact with Dan from S550 Carbon through Instagram. They are a mustang enthusiast company out of Ohio with a focus on carbon fiber components for S550 Mustang platform. The company actually ended up sponsoring my car as they are looking to move into the GT350 market. I am working with them on developing a rear diffuser and some other products. From time to time I will be testing out some of their components and reviewing them on material quality, ease of install, design, and fitment.

The product I just installed from them is their carbon fiber side mirror covers. Initial impressions out of the box are great. The carbon fiber weaving is flawless, great luster, and very light. Much better than the dull carbon fiber wrap I had on the mirrors, and comparable in price.

-
-
-

Installation was very straight forward. Double sided tape to attach them over the factory gloss black mirrors. Several strategically placed pieces of tape for the most contact and to prevent them from ripping off if you brush past the mirror with your clothing. S550 Carbon sends you all the components you need for install, but no instructions since there isn't a "wrong" way to do this per se. Below are some pics of what I did.

-
-

Be sure to wipe everything with the alcohol wipe before placing any tape and let it air dry. I recommend seating the bottom of the mirror cap first and then rotating it on to the top portion. Going to want to ensure the mirror is fully recessed into the pocket of the cap before you engage all the tape. Once they are all mated up keep even pressure on the taped areas with both hands for at least 60 seconds.

-
-

Install altogether took me 30 minutes, and that includes me explaining to the wife why I was in the garage at 10pm. The fitment is SPOT ON. Retail on these is $169 and worth the cost in my opinion. S550 Carbon is still building its web page but If anyone is interested in ordering let me know and I will get you in contact with Dan, as well as 5% off your order. S550 Carbon has several other offerings for the GT350 interior/exterior as well. R style wing, GT350 CF steering wheel, CF tail light bezels, CF decklid panel, CF trunk, CF interior kit, and CF gas cap. I will be reviewing some of their other items shortly as I decide what will look good on the car.

Well its official. I have a total man crush on Tob. He has taken the time to develop these stainless steel brake caliper studs. As many of us know the current brake caliper setup is a bolt through caliper type that can wear the aluminum threads after repeated changes. Tob has developed these in stainless steel and some other 4340 scientific space age stuff. If you have more questions about getting a set or his CAD/Solidworks design definitely send him a PM. At the moment I have more parts than time, so for now I will leave these tease shots.

I recently got to know Tob better and the package showed up like a brick of cocaine [Big Grin] . What was inside was much better. These come with instructions written by Epiphany and everything you need to get them on.

On with the updates. Along the lines of not having enough time I have been sitting on these carbon fiber tail light overlays from S550 Carbon for over a week. Initial impressions is that they look killer. I am happy to report that fitment is spot on once again. I would like to pair these with the full carbon fiber decklid panel, but i am not ready to give up the GT350 emblem since they are expensive.

Similar to the mirror caps they install with double sided tape. The parts come with the necessary tape and adhesion promoter. As with all doubled sided tape applications the prep is whats most important. Install is pretty straight forward on these. Prep your surfaces by wiping them down with alcohol and be sure not to put your oily fingers on the surface after. This goes for the back of the overlays and the tail lights themselves. I might recommend wearing latex gloves if you can.

-
-

Here is a shot of how I placed the tape. Again there is not really a wrong way to do this, but I placed it in all places that might make contact with the light. I would add that there are some pluses and minuses to this and will discuss below

-

In regard to the installation I discovered a few things. The best way to install the lights is from the outside in. Meaning get the outside edges of the overlay mated up at the quarter panel, then work your way to the center of the car. Also make your best effort to seat the bottom of the overlay first. These take a little more finesse to install due to the angle of the protruding tail lights. Take your time with the install or you will install them crooked and have to start over. The tape is quite strong, ask me how I know... I mentioned that adding a lot of tape has costs and benefits. On the good side you will get a nice strong bond and no worries about them coming loose. On the down side adding a lot of tape means that the overlay can contact the surface if your hands are unsteady.

Here a few pictures of the final installation. Overall I am very pleased with the product and will work if you are going for a full carbon fiber look, or just want a nice subtle accent. Feel free to post up or shoot me a PM if you are interested in a set.

Quick update. I had the good fortune of getting invited by the Eurosunday group to show the car at the Sacramento International Auto Show this weekend at Cal Expo. It is a big yearly show in Sacramento at our exposition center. Here are a few quick shots of the pics I took during the drop off and staging today. Been tinkering away at the R and getting parts installed. Lately it seems like I don't have time to put together a full write up. I will keep things brief, and if anyone is interested in a full installation write up let me know and I will work on getting it together

R Springs vs FP Springs
Met up with my buddy Rick at the local cars and coffee. He has a GT350 on the Apex wheels, Carbon2Carbon R aero, and running the same Michelin SC2 tire. His car has the FP lowering springs and MM plates. Measurements show about a 20mm difference up front, and a little less out back. You can visibly see it is lower

-

OPT7 Sequential LED Turn Signals
These were a total pain in the butt to install. It took myself and straightliner1 about 2.5 hours to get this task done. The end result is damn impressive, but the worst part is you never really get to see the lights in action as you drive. You know its there, but this mod is really for others to see. If I had to do it again I would, but it did take much longer than expected. No need to pull the front bumper. Go in through the fender liner, unbolt the cooler, remove a bunch of screws that holds the light, and pull it out from the front. It sounds easy, but my hands are still all beat up.

-

ZL1 Addons Titanium Tow Hook
This one was pretty simple since I knew what to expect from the last car. I love the look and the functionality. Pray to god I never need it. Went with titanium becauseracecar.

-

iJDM Toy LED 4th Brake Light
I was super sketch about buying this at first, but I want all my lighting converted to LED. It was also a pain to install and consumed 4 hours of my life. The area to work in behind the bumper is impossibly tight, the diff cooler had to be unbolted and moved, and running the wires took a little time. The kit does not come with any of the wiring connecters, grounds, or splicers you need so be sure to have them handy. I went with the smoked lens and well..... I love it. That LED surround is sexy at night. Definitely would bang again. Biggest complaint is I cant see it while driving.

-

Overall still in love with this car. My night photography sucks. Hope I helped you spend some money. Mod on

Nice ride! But what's the difference between the 350 and the 350R?

Finally got my custom engraved True Forged Coolant expansion tank installed. I was pretty bummed when I found it wouldn't work with the passenger side Ford Performance Oil Seperator. Luckily I stumbled upon a relocation kit offered by UPR products. It's made to relocate their Oil Seperator to the passenger strut tower, and not the FP model. Luckily I confirmed the connections were the same and figured I could make the bracket work. Sure enough it did. Took a little modification, but $60 later and I have everything I wanted. If anyone is running the FP setup and the True Forged tank this is the way to go. Hit them up to order yours. This tank looks way better than the OEM setup. Thanks again Steve

Definitely diggin' the new rims, T! I like the slight sweep in the spokes. It gives them a visual sense of motion.

Today ended up being pretty cool. Had the opportunity to ask a favor of a new acquaintance of mine. Thought it would be cool to get the car on my old college campus at California State University Sacramento for some photos. I went out with Todd from GP36 Media and he snapped a couple images while we scouted some other locations for photos. Looks like I can get access to some pretty exclusive places that will provide some great imagery. I snapped a few pics while he was working. Will share his images once he gets to them.

After my last photoshoot at Thunder Hill Raceway I was contacted by a company named DCT Motor Sports. They are looking to bring a new steering wheel for the S550 Mustang to market and asked me to try it out. I had not felt the need to upgrade from the GT350R wheel, but when I saw their product I was intrigued. Even more pleased when I actually got it in my hands. The stitching, quality of the leather, and weave on the carbon fiber is VERY good.

Of note were the impressions in the top of the steering wheels for your fingers to grip.

-

The only real knock I can make on the OEM wheel is that the Alcantara (or whatever it is) will eventually get messed up if you have sweaty hands, let your kids touch on it, get dirt on the material, or constantly let the wheel slide through your hands after turning. I think a few here have discussed the option of a full leather wheel. I basically resigned myself to wearing driving gloves all the time to save the material, but sometimes that is a bit of a hassle. Being that guy who pulls up to the cars and coffee with the racing gloves on is a bit much at times.

-

This is looking like an attractive option. Once I get it installed I will take pictures side by side of the OEM wheel to check for any differences in size, and will provide impressions after driving.

I also got to spend a little time with @swedensky and @Dtmaso with their R's. Managed to get their cars all dirty in the process of snapping a few pictures. More and better shots to come

Here is a quick video I shot today of the wheels while out at Thunder Hill watching the Ford Performance racing school race in the 25 hour event. First time out with the new equipment. iPhone X and DJI Osmo...

Finally completed hanging my window sticker from the R. It took me 6 months to make it happen, but it puts a smile on my face every time I see it. For those contemplating it, make the trip to Ikea and spend the $12.

I hope every sip will be as good as 8250 RPM. Elk Grove Ford has been great to work with.

Thus far I have had a really good relationship with ZL1 Addons as a sponsor. Been very happy with their products, and my dealings with the owner John. Recently they were the solution to another "problem."

Almost all of us have to deal with the delimma of the front license plate. Some hate it all together, but given my personalized plate I would rather have it visible. I had Craigs custom bracket on my first GT350 and it worked fine. The mounting bracket for that setup attaches with 3M double sided tape. This time around I had my car ceramic coated before I installed the base, and sure enough it lost its bond after a while. The ceramic coating is doing its job, so no discredit to Craig.

ZL1 Addons has a front license plate bracket that screws into the tow hook mount, but I enjoy having the titanium hook on all the time. I figured that there had to be a mounting bracket ZL1 could make that would allow me to put another tow hook bracket on the passenger side for just the plate. Sure enough, I called John and he had one in stock. Apparently Shelby American had requested some custom made pieces for the passenger side, and John had one laying around. 2 days later I had the bracket and got it installed. Now I can run both the plate and hook without issue. Also should I ever have a nightmare scenario that I cant get the car pulled from the driver side, the passenger side is now an option too.

In any case, here are some photos I took if it installed. Car is dirty and the weather was gloomy, but this car is not going to be a garage queen. Enjoy, and call ZL1 Addons direct if you want the passenger side bracket.
