Alright I know since we all drive Mustangs or used to at one point, I know we've all gotten pulled over for one thing or another. So I'd like to hear some stories of you getting pulled over for no reason or horrible reason.

I personally have been pulled over many times, but the one that takes the cake would be when I got pulled over for driving 100% normal(obeying every lay) in front of a cop. One day I was driving N I stopped at a red light N notice from a distance a cop approaching me. I knew from right when I seen him I was gonna get pulled over so I just proceeded when the green light came on N was driving for about a minute N next thing you know BAM lights flash! I pulled over N I was like "So why did you pull me over I wasn't doing anything wrong." He said "You were in my way" so I told him "well you didn't have your emergency lights on or anything" then he had the nerve to say "well it doesn't matter whether or not I have my emergency lights you're suppose to move out of an emergency vehicles way, oh by the way I just noticed your brake lights don't work so imma have to give you a ticket for that."

Right after the city decided to install red light camera's, I got stopped for no front plate. I had owned my car for 3-4 years before this, never once was bugged about it.

I was driving my buddies notch, I honked the horn to see if it worked and there was a cop sitting in a parking lot watching us. He pulled me over and gave me a ticket for using the horn in a non-emergency situation, I just laughed. It was about $200 and something dollars.

I got pulled over last summer for "doing 40 in a 35" an I was in first gear on a right hand turn, I was going 15mph...searched the car an everything then handed me a ticket an speed off.

Mustang driver = ticket
Mustang driver an African American = ticket and car search

I got 3 tickets in a half hour back in November of 2004. Exhibition of speed (got sideways at the green light). A few minutes later, got a reckless for swingin donuts cuz i was pissed about the first ticket, then right after that i got a ticket for loud music cuz i was slappin with the top down on my way home. All by different cops. That was a hell of a day

driving my 89 coupe through the 85 from the coast towards the 280. Just past 35/skyline blvd.

pulled over by a cop through the twisties, I pulled over thinking no big deal. He came up on passenger side gun drawn and asked me if I stole the car...

this was back when I just got the car running after doing the v8 conversion, and had repaired and primered damage on the trunk lid and rear bumper cover.

car was searched, I was searched. Then I was let go.

apparently since this is a race thing, I'm a white male and so was the cop...

I got pulled over countless times in my drop when it ran. Always for some dumb shit ... No seat belt ,loud music and ect. It was mostly true about the loud music .

The time that gets me crackin up is the time I got pulled I've at gun point Because I was suposly involved in a hit and run . A white convertable mustang 5.0 has hit a lady's car and had ran . The cops looked over the whole car and saw no damage at all so they let me go .

Vette was leading Cobra was following and my brother got pulled over for an 86 in a 70 on the tollway [Eek!] Our buddy pulled over when the cop lit us up and he let our buddy go without talking to him. That was a Trooper though, he must like Chevy's.

for doing 48 in a 50

i shit you not..... mi state trooper

when she walked up to me, she asked "whats the rush"

i said "well the speed limits 50"

she said "yeah ! and you were doing 48"

she wouldnt admit to being wrong to that, wouldnt show me the radar, told me my insurance was expired (it wasnt) , and that me and my passenger didnt have our seatbelts on (we did)

so she wrote me for doing 58 in a 45

stupid B!t$h

i had to plead guilty...cuz she kept putting it off...then i had to ship out for marine corps boot camp. and you cant have any pending tickets.

The one that I could remember that was the funniest was when I got pulled over by 5 cops 4houses away from my house, when he pulled me over he asked were was I going and I said to my house showed him my drivers license n said look there's my house n I asked him y he pulled me over for he said I fit the description of someone there looking for n asked me if he could search my car said no cause no probable cause n he got mad but couldn't do anything but the funny part was only 1 cop came up to my car while the other 4 or 5 stayed there chopping it up but that was the one I could remember me not doing anything all the other ones I was guilty but for some reason I mostly always got away with warnings except for one time got a infraction instead of felony take that anyday

i got pulled over for driving with my yellow parking lights on 'like everyone does'i did not get pulled over for my 4inch cowl hood, not for my 20% tint, and not for my loud exhaust.

he finally wrote the ticket it was for driving with parking lights, no proof of insurance, driving on a suspended "i did not know'
and he let me drive off.

four days later and almost 1000 in tickets paid i go to the chp station to get my ticket signed off, and the officer looks at me in disgust and tells me my morning route from before i get on the freeway to my work, i say how did you know? he tells me your car gets called in a minimum of 1-2 a week for reckless driving and i just denied it 'i was scared' [Big Grin]

Not true. Got stopped for not having my headlights on, on hwy 65. Wasnt speeding, wasnt swerving. In fact was actually driving less than the speed limit. Yes I know the sign says your suppose to, that day I just forgot. Chp didn't care. Still wrote me a ticket. I wasn't disrespectful when he came up to the car. Fact is, he had already made up his mind to write me a ticket. Cost me 30 for the ticket and 180 in fees and penalties.

Got pulled over in my old 89' hatch. Driving down the hill from castro valley to Hayward, I saw that CHP had a car pulled over. Went to the stoplight, waited 2 minutes for a green light, went thru 3 stop signs, and then BAM.. same cop comes flyin up right behind me. He kept harrassing me asking me "What I was hiding" and "why I was looking suspicious." Told me to step outta the car, I got searched, he then searched my car and only found a legal pocket knife, and then wrote me a ticket for "Music audible from 50+ feet). Fought it and got to keep my F'ing money. Officer Fitzgerald FTL [BS flag]

I got pullies over twice in one day in my 88 coupe. But before I got pullied over i think a lady snitched on me cause i was doing donuts in front of her house but any how First I picked up my girl and 5 minutes after I get pulled over for her not wearing a seat belt and I got let go with a warning. A few hours later I was on my way home around 10 pm and I passed a cop. He followed me and I came to a light about to get on to 280. So I'm going up the ramp and the lights go on. He comes up to the window and says I pulled you over cause my exhaust were screaming but I got lucky and he let me go. That was a hell of a day for me

Off topic a bit, but here is anther perspective.

There are 1,000's of ways to lawfully stop a vehicle...My favorite reasons to stop a car is when the license plate light bulb is out, the ball hitch obstructs the license plate, no rear bumper, no front license plate, cracked windshield and the catch all mandatory lighting must be working. I usually do not stop a vehicle for tinted windows or exhaust.

For me, I don't focus as much on moving violations or passing out tickets unless they're earned. In fact, I hate tickets and I'm generally not out going hard on City Grandma driver or Joe Citizen. I'm more interested in criminally profiling vehicles, stopping a car for something like a ball hitch and then getting into the car through a consent/probation or parole search... It's amazing how an officer can talk their way into a vehicle. Even more amazing is what you can dig up during the course of a vehicle stop investigation. I've found everything from guns to dope... For me, that's what I love about being a cop.

Here is the thing, if you aren't breaking any laws, then you have nothing to worry about. If you are pulled for a simple vehicle code violation, such as those mentioned above and you are Joe Citizen, you're unlikely to receive a ticket.

For me, I could careless about not having a front license plate or a ball hitch blocking the license plate, but the vehicle code is the vehicle code. Your license plate has to be legible so that it can be seen. Furthermore, case law and the courts have upheld investigative traffic stop based solely on a ball hitch obstructing the view of the license plate as good PC to stop a vehicle. There is nothing illegal about it.

In fact, if/ when I make a stop on a vehicle for a simple violation like the ball hitch, before I do anything, I try to help the person avoid being inconvenienced again at a later time. I always give tips to avoid being pulled over in the future for the same violation. For instance, you can take the ball hitch, turn it upside down and then it is still there when you need to use it, but no longer obstructing the view of the plate.

Let's think about it for a moment. Unless, someone tells you, how are you going to know you have a license plate lamp out or brake light out? A lot of time, a vehicle stop for a violation like a light being out is more of a service provided and less about writing tickets.

As I said, many of my stops do not result in tickets and are more of investigative stops. At my agency and more specific to my particular beat, I have a lot of time to be proactive. Coming from a family of recovering addicts, I love to hunt illegal drugs. You asked how a hitch or license plate is a public safety concern... In the small picture, it's really nothing. However, it is a tool that can be very useful. And when used appropriately, that tool has led me to many arrest for warrants, drugs, guns and people who should not be driving due to being under the influence of alcohol/ drugs or both. To me there is no better stop than that mentioned above and using the skills I have acquired.

I agree with you there. Its the small stuff that leads to the bigger picture on a whole. When I got stopped for not having a front plate on my car, the officer asked if the car was stolen, a bit odd at first, but I can see where he was coming from. Looking for how I would respond I am sure to which would lead into a search of my car. Oh I had also forgot to put my new proof of insurance in the car before he stopped me. Thank god both of those were "fix it" tickets. The reason for the front plate, plain and simple its a state law. They are "law enforcement officers" I took my medicene like a big boy and paid the fix it tickets, and just added the front plate like I should. I may not agree with it, but if I don't like having a plate on the front of my vehicle then I could just simply....move. There was so much other things that he could have gotten me for, "Illegally modified exhaust"= possible impound of my car. I was lucky.

I'm a law abiding citizen, I've never been arrested, and when pulled over, most of the time I feel that I'm beening treated unfairly. I treat every officer with the utmost respect, never get a smart ass attitude, and they still want to treat me like a criminal. Yeah I don't have a front plate on my Mustang because I don't want to add holes and I don't like the way they look.

On my pickup I have the front plate, it's stock height and I've been pulled over for no mud flaps, it didn't come from the factory with mud flaps. It was the only time I have been pulled over for that and I've had the pickup for 3 years, plus I drive it all over Texas with California plates and never get pulled over.

Maybe it's because I grew up in a small town and the PD had nothing better to do but mess with me and my other friends that had Mustangs. Been pulled out of a car, put in handcuffs and searched, the officer wouldn't tell me why he was searching me, he just did it. Most of the time I feel that they're trying to violate my rights, get into my vehicle and search my person, for what they feel is "probable cause".

What percentage of Corvettes do you see with no front plate? 99.99%? Yes I understand that it's a law but its a useless law.

I guess it comes with age

I used to play the "it's not fair" game with myself, but then you grow up and realize that you've gotta answer to yourself when it really comes down to it. Front plate? Yea, it may be weak in our eyes, but if the law says it must be there, don't feel sorry for yourself and hate the cops when they pull you over for it - you knew the law, and you chose to not abide by it. That said, have I gotten pulled for front plate? Multiple times. The only thing that's changed is that I no longer blame the cops for it - I blame myself.

If you dot your "I's" and cross your "T's" you have nothing to worry about. Everyone saying, "I wasn't doin nothin, I was just slappin some beat" - well guess what, you were doing something wrong according to the VC, so deal with the consequences. Simple as that. I think everyone cuts corners in their own way, it's just owning up to getting caught up in it - rather than to blame-shift toward the cops/authority.

That's all. $0.02

It's called profiling. You can turn it into a race thing, or you can realize that it happens to most every young guy, and exponentially moreso when coupled with driving a 'fast' car

I'm not that young (25) and I'm not trying to play the "It's not fair" game, I was just stating that it is a useless law, nothing more then a tool used by law enforcement to pull people over.

I know that the plate isn't going to get on there by itself, I would prefer not to drill holes in the front bumper, especially once I am done restoring it. Even if I do dot my "I's" and cross my "T's" it doesn't mean that I won't get pulled for some "reason".

Now that I live in Dallas, I haven't been pulled over or had a ticket since I left Califonia, police don't even look at me. Now back in my home town they would break their necks to stare me down.

Don't get me wrong I do respect the jobs of law enforcement, just not when their out to harass people.

The bay area is a lot worse about random pull overs than other areas of California.

I was pulled over ~20 times in my coupe when I lived in HMB and drove to SJ and back a lot. I received 1 ticket which was for barking 2nd and 3rd leaving a red light, just had shitty tires and shifted quickly.

Now that I live in ventura county I hardly ever get pulled over, the only ticket I've had in the past few years was my wifes car received a no front plate ticket while her `08 GT was parked in front of her friends house. Talk about a bored cop...

I am only 19 and I have done my share of stupidity, got a reckless driving violation which is on my record for 10 years, two years probation, weekend work program, and CASH! Also got busted for speding, and fix it tickets and as a minor I got a no license violation lol.

The most dumb thing I got pulled over for was aftermarket headlights, HIDs on my sn95, told my officer half of san jose has HIDs, looked at me then cited me for loud exhaust. I just got mad got my ticket, crumpled it up and drove off to work!

I was driving my Dads 2011 Z06 and I got stopped by CHP out in the tracy area near I5. Stopped m for "suspicion for drunk driving" bc i changed lanes w/p signalling.... at 1230 in the afternoon. I was wearing my niner gear and hat bc it was game day on a sunday. I believe he stopped me for that. he ended up letting me off. He spent 80% of the time looking at the car, and talkng about how he loves chevys. He was aight.

on the other hand, davis PD were dicks. I got pulled over in my 05 GT for no front plate, exhaust, tinted window, and blacked out tail lights. he ripped me a new asshole. and then he drove away, no ticket.

Thank god I've never been pulled over in the stang but when I was fifteen I had a go kart with a 7.5 horse power Briggs and straton engine and was riding earlier in the day. Police had set up a radar that snaps pics of people speeding. I was clocked going 55 in a 25 in my fabulous go kart. Well police weren't fond of me and my friends mooning the picture radar and 30 mins later two motorcycle cops and a patrol cop surround me and tell me "put your lil bastard hands on the wheel." I was scared shitless but its funny now I think back.

Whats funny is Loomis has some of the most strict cops out there. Not much happens so they hammer people that do the small law breaking to make up for it. Taylors ftw

I hear you Blind, I guess when you grow up/live in a small town with a modded Mustang you're bound to get messed with. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't like I always drove like an angel, but even when I wasn't doing anything wrong they would pull me over or follow me out of town.

It got to the point where I would pass a local LEO going the other way and he would turn around, I would immediately pull over.

I've met my fair share of really cool LEO's and have met my share of LEO's that I felt abused their badge.

I got pulled over driving down a residential street. The cop was going the opposite way then turned around didn't even get out of his car. He told me on the speaker "I don't know if your aware but the front Lisence plate monster ate your front lisence plate". Then he pulled up next to me & said "drive safe" then left haha

I forgot about this one.
I pull out of a driveway on story n king "hekka traffic" so i roll off the curb "accidently" and screech tire, As that happened I see a cop 6cars behind and he saw me in traffic so I try to loose him in traffic being that he didn't have his sirens on. I'm doing the speed limit, using my blinker, and I shake him within a distance bettween one traffic light I make a right into the backstreets and ran a stop sign did a couple zig zags through the block and the fucker comes out of nowhere behind me, he turns his lights on I pull over he comes calmly and says dl and registration with a smirk.

he got me with 38 in a 25 and stop sign ticket.

I fought it in court because he didn't actually see me he just assumed I was speeding and ran the stop sign based on how far ahead of him I was. Even tho I did run the stop sign but wasn't speeding

When I pull up to homestead court there's another 5.0 in the parking lot and I end up talking to the annoying Guy inside I didn't say I had a 5.0 because I didn't wanna relate to him LOL he's saying my tail light wasn't out but it was "I saw it" but I just agreed with the Guy he had one bulb working on his 3rd brake light

anyways I go up to the judge and the officer reads his report and the whole time my girl tells me he's silently cheering throwing up his arms whispering yea 5.0, he almost got away etc. He got warned by the judge to calm down. LOL

In the end I'm found guilty and i think i paid $648

I got pulled over after I stopped to say "hello" to a girl (and a few girlfriends of hers)I know. I drive off to go home and a cop stopped me. He gets out and his partner was behind to my right watching me. And he asked if I was trying to pick up these girls. He thought I was some "John" looking for some action! I say I know her and was saying "hi". He tells me there's girls as young as her prostituting themselves around the area. Then, he let me go.

Got pulled over on Christmas eve for a dim tail light. The two cops searched my 86 hatch and gave me a field sobriety test then the breathalizer then let me go.

Your above statement makes no sense. If an officer asks you on a traffic stop, "Hey do you have anything illegal on you or in your car?" and you respond, "No." and then the officer says something to the effect of, "So you don't mind if I search your car or your person?" and then you say, "No, go ahead." It's clearly not illegal. In fact, it would be a consent search. It's up to you, to say, "No, I don't want you to search my car or my person". Furthermore, if you give consent and an officer begins to search you or your car, you can withdraw that consent at anytime. Again, case law and courts have upheld many consent searches under the same scenario.

If a person is on parole/ probation with search terms, it does not matter if a person does not want to consent to a search. There are also provisions for people out on bail or O/R. Furthermore, if you have someone in your car who is on probation/parole with search terms, an officer can search the car that way too.

If an officer walks up to your driver/passenger side window and smells marijuana, sees a pipe sitting on the floor...ect it's another way to search a car.

If a driver fails to produce a driver license or registration, an officer can search the car in the area the registration or driver license would likely be... Glove box, center console, under the seats, rear seat and in some cases the trunk... more less the whole car.

If a person a driver is arrested and a vehicle is towed, an inventory search must be done in many circumstances...

There is also always a warrant too. I'm sure I am forgetting something. However, my point to all this is, there are more than enough ways to use the tools already provided to law enforcement that we do not have to go around breaking laws and violating the rights of citizens. There have been times when I have had no lawfully authority or consent to search and I know/believe there is something, but have been told to pound sand. That's no problem, I don't take it personal. I just move on to the next.

At the end of the day, it's just a job and I'm out having fun. It's like fishing or a cat and mouse game. However, I can assure you I am not going to violate the trust the public puts in me to do my job lawfully and I am definitely no going to risk losing my house, car, ect in Federal Court because I want to search your car and have no lawful authority to do so.
