I am not an active member on this site, but I was referred to it after a man from California ripped me off on SVTPerformance.com - another Mustang board. I am a very active member on SVTPerformance with right around 1,000 posts and (33) trader feedback.

On September 25th, I send $566 to Josh Courtway ("64VALVES" on SVTPerformance) for these stock 03-04 Cobra parts parts he was selling... Eaton with pulley, throttle body and plenum, injectors, mass air flow sensors, and heat exchanger. He and I exchanged several Private Messages in which we came up with an agreement on how much he would sell me the parts for.

After I paid him, he sent me a private message saying that he would ship out the parts by Friday, that would be 09-28-07. On 10-02-07 he sent me another message saying that he had been super busy and the parts would be shipped tomorrow or the next day. This was the last time I have heard from him. I have sent him 6-7 messages asking if the parts had been shipped. He didn't respond to any of them. On 10-12-07 I filed a complaint with Paypal telling them that I thought he was ripping me off. Paypal didn't find that there was enough evidence to start a case against him, so they closed the dispute immediately. I have not heard from him since any of this happened.

If any of you guys know Josh or have any other ideas on how I can get my money back, I would appreciate it. He posts quite a bit on here, so I thought someone may know him. Here is the info I have on him...

I agree that if a deal goes sour then indeed you should post up the details of the transaction to find some sort of resolve if the communication hasn't been very effective. Being a moderator of a few sites I can't see how people would allow to post someones information on the board like this to expose private information that was only shared between certain individuals. I'm all for putting a post up exposing someone that defiantly in this case went wrong with your parts but I honestly think that doesn't give the right to allow everyone else to post up information like this all over a board.

I have been an involved member on this board not longer then a lot of you on here but I have put together quite a few functions to bring this community closer to allow new friendships to develop among us car buffs. Ego's run high in the car world this we all know but we all have to put ourselves in the other peoples shoes and think about how we would feel to have your information exposed like this under this type of manner.

I know Josh yes and he's a pretty good all around guy. Why a deal would end up like this is not the guy i've hung out with but looks like the deal went belly up and I am on board 100% with you voicing out your frustration about the transaction. Please don't take this the wrong way it's not intended to offend anyone but enough is enough. Hope everything works out regarding this deal and I hope mostly you find some sort of resolve.

I agree with what your saying. Fact is that were all grown men and women. The communication was obviously horrible. In that case like I said in my previous post make your point. Get to that point. There is no need to drag anyone's siblings in the matter for any reason. Keep it on topic and, keep the focus on the main culprit in the deal. Two wrongs make no right im sure we've all heard.

I got a part, but the coil covers are unusable. Who wants to put covers that are all scratched up on their motor? They look exactly like his pictures, but the 'grease smudges' are deep scratches and gouges. I pm'd him and emailed his wife, as well as filed a complaint with paypal. Since the product was delivered, paypal did nothing. They don't do anything about 'not as described' items.

Before you people start bashing cafords why not see what SVTperformance and the other sites have done, have they banned him? If they haven't then maybe you should go there and bitch about their website not banning him. Cafords doesn't make money off people sales so don't blame cafords for what people do. Sad to say, this is one risk you take with buying used parts over the internet, just to try and save a few bucks. [Frown]

Now, I have sold parts and bought parts over the net many times... only been slighted once, and I willingly accept the risks involved...

However, when people are in doubt about anything, I have no problem asking them to meet up, or showing them that I have been active in/on other boards, without any problems.

I know this is beating a dead horse, but a system like the 'e trader' system on svtper, could help out. Only bad thing is that a scammer could always have his buddy post positive remarks to help him out...

Yes there is a need. He used his wifes name and account so I don't see anything wrong with posting it up. Also, he's ripped people in the past so why not put up his name and address? Well then how about if we make a "Do not buy from" thread and sticky it. Just list names, address and phone numbers of these people. We do that on other boards and it helps protect the members from getting ripped off and also helps the integrity of the board.

On another note, why is this guy not banned? People have been banned from cafords for much less than this. He's had multiple bad transactions. He's been given ample opportunity to make things right. The owner of cafords has also tried to step in and help. But yet this dude has done NOTHING at all. So what's the deal why is he not banned? Ban that foo!!!!!!!!!!

Make "do not buy from" it's own section within the for(d) sale section, then you could go into the "do not buy from" section and post a new thread titled "do not buy from (insert name)" give their info and your story. Damn this has gotten dumb. I understand people saying this and that about this guy Josh. But it's NOT cafords responsibility to find out or be police on what people accuse other members of. Plain and simple. This is a FREE PUBLIC forum. Yes, things do happen, like on any site.

If people have theft issues, go to your local police department, file an Internet Fraud Case, most departments have specialized sections and departments to handle these types of crimes inparticular, especially since they have become so common. Yes, they do actually chase people for these crimes, and people do get arrested. It is a serious thing. What you guys should do is after filing a case with your local PD, take the case and/or file number and contact this persons local PD tell them you have a fraud case going against someone who lives there, and if they don't think there is enough interest at the time, once they get a few calls from various people trust me they will find the time to start going after him.

But first things is first, don't blame CAFORDS for not doing anything, especially if your site has not done anything.
Also do not post public information such as SSN's, addresses and so on. You don't have any reason to do so, and its NONE of your business to do that. If someone got scammed, THEY can get that info themselves. It's out of respect for privacy, safety, and an individuals personal security that things like that should NEVER get posted online.

How the fuck would you like it if someone accusing you of doing something if you did it or not suddenly posted all your personal info on the web. Thats BS! Don't do it! and It should NOT BE TOLERATED AT ALL!!!

I am not defending this guy, I just think you guys are WAY out of what is the correct way to deal with a situation. Grow up, handle it like adults. This is for ALL parties now invloved! lol... Where's Darwin when you need him... lol, but seriously, I did an internet fraud case with a guy like a year ago. They arrested the guy over 60 bucks within the week. The cop said it was the whole principal of the thing and they don't want him thinking he can do it again. Shit, I just reported him because he was a prick when I asked him about where my crap was and he laughed and said in his room, then hung up. Hahaha, thought the guy had balls until he caved and tried to give me $100 to drop the charges, but I got my $60 back and he got done in buy the courts. [patriot]

Annoying that the courts work so well on the little crap, but the big things never work. But whoever has a problem with this guy should might as well try to file a report, it only takes like 10 mins. I know San Jose has a really strict internet fraud department. Seriously though, all the name calling and ethugging is hilarious, I really missed this forum [Big Grin]

I don't know if its pride or failing to realize the big picture, but you have not handled things in a manner that would make a new potential customer feel comfortable engaging in business transactions with you. Maybe you just don't have any business sense, or maybe you just don't care?

You might be a standup guy... I don't know you, I have never dealt with you, but judging from what I see here, I would not take a chance on purchasing car parts from you.

I hope you realize the big picture in all of this and make things right or get out of this business all together.

Also, you never really know who you are dealing with out there. With a family I would be extra careful as to not F with people's money...

Its funny that he said this so long ago and now we find out it really wasn't resolved and he hasn't done anything.
