Looking for just a personal loan? Car loan?

5K to me is one of those wierd amounts for just a personal loan.

If you don't wana use your c/c for cash advance i would look into a credit union as they usually have very good apr's.

yep credit union will give you the best rates vs. pulling cash advance on your credit card.

DO NOT do a cash advance. Cash advances are for EMERGENCY use only. Basically avoid at all cost. First they will charge you 3% or max at $75 some credit card companies may go a little higher. Not only that, the interest on that borrowed money is usually in the low 20% range. Basically in your situation it's not worth it.

Citibank has a really good rate on personal unsecured loans for 10.05%. I haven't really searched lately, but last that I saw it was one of the lowest ones. I will be honest though, your credit needs to be good though. Not excellent, but leaning towards really good.

What are the funds going to be used for?

Dont do a cash advance. And a credit union would be your best bet. If you already dont have a home bank. Personal loans I think are a little higher rate due to them being unsecured. Or attached to something tangible.

I'm actually on a car loan right now for my mustang. I bought it almost 2 years ago, and I went through Star One Credit Union. The rate at the time was 4.6%, which I thought was pretty low. I only needed less than 5k as well - but I think the rates have gone up. Maybe 6% or so?
