Good news peoples, we figured out how to restore lost posts. Do to previous server crashes, many memebers lost their post count. We finally figured out how to modify post counts.

Here is a rough guess of how many posts these people have lost:

1Sicgt - 3000
NavidR - 100
two-gun kid - 2500
03SVTPower - 1500
1968_Fastback - 2200
98slowhoe 'FIFTYLX' - 1500

reply here or email feedback@Cafords.com if you're name should be on this list. We'll need your member number and your best guess of the month/year your posts were lost.

This also means that if someone is post whoring, we may give them half a million posts just to render their post whoring useless. What does everyone think ?

I think you should just do away with post counts all together or start everybody back at zero. [Smile]

Yes, another idea worth considering is removing the post count on the bottom of every persons post and only having it displayed when the - link is clicked. Post whoring has been a non issue lately though. As you've all notice, over the past year we really cleaned up the website well.

IMO opinion kept the post count because it shows how much the person really is a part of the cafords community. Also yes the site really has been cleaned up of the garbage,, but there are still a couple of raider fans still lurking in the shadows. [Razz]

I agree with having to look at a members profile to see their post count, and also I think it would be a good idea to require people to put their actual location.

i don't know about actual location. Some people rather keep their residence secret for the safety of their cars. However, i do agree with getting rid of post counts all together or moving them elsewhere.
The only thing that should count is the Member number. [patriot]
If you guys decide to restore post numbers i lost about 1000+ posts a long time ago when the server first crashed.. i think i went from 1000 or so to 300 [Frown] But i don't care either way.
good luck and thanks for keeping the integrity of the site intact. [Whoo Whooooo!]

might as well get rid of the option then, its actually helpful to the few people that buy and sell on here, not just talk about and start stupid crap!

Keep the suggestions coming guys. They don't even have to be about post counts. You can always reply just the site in general. Feedback is always welcomed. There is also a "Questions/Requests/Suggestions? email CAFords" link on the bottom of every single page here.

If you've noticed, when you make a post now you can click the - icon on your posts and upload or view pictures your album. Pictures are automatically resized for you. If anyone wants to make a better watermark logo for the bottom of each picture, drop us a line. More changes and improvements with the album coming soon.

The FAQ (Frequenlty Asked Questions) has been cleaned up. It has useful information, but is still in unfinished form http://www.californiafords.com/faq/

If anyone is proficient in the perl programming language and would like to help cafords, please email feedback@cafords.com

There will also be tons of vintage cafords video clips making it online. A lot of unreleased footage from sacramento raceway and our cruises and car shows.
Is there anyone here that does not use a windows laptop to post on cafords? Mac, Linux and Unix cafords users reply here or email feedback.

Fixed. As for the other people, we need the number of posts lost as well as the month and year they were lost.

Right know we're leaning towards leaving the post cound displayed, but if someone starts to post whore, they'll be given about 100,000 posts to make their efforts seem useless.

Is a feedback system in ford sale really needed? Due to the local nature of the website, if a shady deal goes down, there is a post made about it here and the persons reputation is tarnished. This isn't like craigslist or ebay where anonymous people which could live far apart are scamming eachother. The amount of shady deals we hear about is maybe 3 a year tops.

Thank you for the compliments about removing the trash from cafords. At least half of it was taking suggestions you guys gave us or work you guys did to help take out the trash.

helps, since a lot of new members are signing up daily. its hard to know who is a good buyer/seller or a bad one. also i think its good for the people that arent in that circle of friends(the regulars, you know who you are) so they know who is who and would let them know if that seller/buyer is trust worthy and know that they can do bussiness with that member.

hey did you ever recieve my email? i forwarded it to all three email address'.

wow.. i just looked at your member number.. you are part of the old school crew... this site stayed pretty secluded until about 2k members then it boomed to 4k+.. can't believe it's grown so much since 02, i remember when i started lurking there were only barely 1k members.. and this was back in the days of 98cobra.com

You can, and so can everyone else who lost their member numbers---- just email feedback@cafords.com and we'll take care of you. This has always been the case, you just gotta ask.

Fixed. Just put a number 2 (no spaces) after your login to login to your old account. Use your normal login for your original account. Also follow steps 1 2 3 www.cafords.com/help

I take pride in my member number, not post numbers [Wink] . I can recall exactly how I coincendentally ran into this site. "VENOMIZED93" came about because I had a 93 Cobra. At that time my world revovled around my first car/cobra. So bored as hell, I started to type 93cobra.com, 94cobra.com, 95cobra.com. and BAM I hit 98cobra.com. To make it even more coincendence it was NORCAL. [patriot] . Rest is history.

It's going to be tough with out a member number but we can always try. What's your best guess on what your member number use to be ? What about a guess on the month and year you registered and the month and year when your account was lost? What about the email address you had registered with? The more info the better. Email your reply to feedback@cafords.com if you don't want this information out in public.

It looks like #2973 is active and fine. What we can do is is make the publicly displayed name on the Rhombeus50 account be STREETFIGHTER50 and add your STREETFIGHTER50 post count to the Rhombues account. You'll need to log in as Rhombues, but all posts and PMs will show STREETFIGHTER50. The only thing that you will lose is the PMs stored in your current account if you have any.

twogunkid, what was your login name when you first signed up ? Like I told the other guy above, you will lose any PMs you may have in your current account but we can maintain your post count. Just have to ask yourself if it's worth the hassle for getting a member number 500 people lower.

Allright, can we do this then?

STREETFIGHTER50 and two-gun kid, change your publicly displayed name to something different, like put a number 2 at the end of it in your profile settings. Backup any PMs you may care about (print them copy/paste them into WORD or something). Then late tonight the change will happen. Go to www.cafords.com/help to login.

don't know how to change the reg date, but isn't it only wrong by 3 months ?

Has everyone been taken care of? This project has been very time consuming for us, but it probably meant a lot to those people it affected so it was worth our time.

sic5pointSLOW, no problem. The hardest problem was figuring out how to change things. Thanks for being appreciative.

166 Merlot, we only receive complains about 2gunkid post whoring or being overly ghetto so he's by far in first place to get the cafords here is 100,000 posts, now quit postwhoring and being ghetto fabulous prize. If you really want it, maybe we can give you 50,000 instead.

Have a great thanks giving everyone.

I was just wondering you know, since it is that holiday season and everyone is being extra generous and all.

that's funny though, I only want 50,000 if two gun doesn't get any. I'm sure it'll only take him a couple months to catch up.

Is there any way you guys can retrieve my old member number (4736) they date i was registered wich was almost 2 years before this one and my post counts from that account added with the ones i have?

Eddie306 and WeStBaY5.0, we're going to need much more information to pull this off. Email address registered with, approximate member number and registration date, and anything other registration details you may remember. Approximations are better than nothing.

If we can't recover your old account, we can at least give you your old member numbers back.

46 posts are needed for an avatar and to upload photos to the album. We added the post count from your old 3292 account to your new one so you can choose an avatar again.

If anyone else wants to try what C0C05.0 did, go to www.cafords.com/help

Changing your member number will mean you'll lose all your PMs and you can't edit any of your old posts. Print or copy/paste into a Word file any PMs you wish to save and let us know when we can switch your account. You may not be able to login for several hours after the swap happens.

i don't know about actual location.

[patriot]

Lets lose the post count and incorporate a buyer/seller feedback rating, tally, or something. [patriot]

CA FORDS [worship]

[patriot]
That is a Great Idea! I say give the man 100 posts for that one! [Razz]
It would be a good way let you know who is a flake and who is a bad seller.

ive been saying to add this for a long ass time now.
