I got a 99 ranger 4.0 5 speed

And it its hard as hell to shift it above 2400-2500 rpm its like the clutch is not disengaging
Also get a burning clutch smell if i force it

And if i take it above 2500 rpm in any gear then press the clutch it wont release and it engine brakes me.

But it will not creep forward at all in first at any rpm with the clutch in

Ive tryed bleeding the clutch 3 difrent times

Could it be the master cylinder?

Also it drive fine if its under 2400rpm!

I just bench bled my master cylinder and line by taking it out and tilting to to get rid of the air pockets and the clutch pedal felt great and firm with no play and worked for like 1 mile then it got spongy again and started the same symptoms

I think im gunna try a new mastercylinder

Forgive me for the rookie question but what does the master cylinder have to do with the clutch?

I'm not familiar "engine braking". Must be a '99 or later thing!

Never cars have hydraulic clutches so they have their own master/slave cylinder to help with a easier clutch engagement(way softer than our foxes). And engine braking would be letting off the clutch and gas so the motor "brakes" the car to a stop eventually.
