So my Mustang has been sitting for a while and went to start it but battery is dead tested out to be bad battery so I replaced it but when it starts car idles like 1600 rpm and bogs out when pushing gas pedal anyone have advice on how to fix this problem thanks in advance cafords

is it low on gas? did you replace anything on it?

do you have strong spark? check the basic things cap rotor etc.

Also try unplugging the IAC and see if it still idles high.

maybe vacuum lines?

only thing replaced was battery I read online about idle relearn procedure for the computer guess it has to idle for 10mins to reset the parameters is this true if so that's my problem?

Possibly but it should not make the car bog out when giving it gas.

The car needs to be warmed up and then you have to do an idle relearn which consists of removing the spout connector and disconnecting the IAC and adjusting the screw on the throttle body until the idle is steady and around the right range 800ish depending on cam this will change. When you find the "happy spot" turn it off and reconnect the IAC and plug in the jumper for the spout connector.

Before considering this option have you checked your TPS? If the car was sitting for a while maybe some wires got chewed by an animal?

Do you have old gas in the car too?

Fixed problem it was the idle relearn procedure and had to adjust idle screw on the throttle body since I replaced the battery
