The "D" shaped connector is the voltage regulator and will plug right into the 3G alternator.
The rectangular plug has 3 wires in it, the two larger black with orange stripes come together a few inches back in the harness and go to the battery side of the starter solenoid, this would go to the lug terminal on the back of the 3G. The other wire on the rectangular connector is white with black stripe, this wire goes to the single spade connector on the 3G. While you can cut the stock rectangular connector off original harness at the alternator and use the original black/orange stripe wires it is recommended that a larger gauge wire with fuse protection is used from 3G lug terminal to battery side of starter solenoid.

That is how it is done. Everyone makes a big deal about this, And by the way the stock wire going to the solenoid is totally adequate to use with the new 3G.Thank you 7UP.

Do you connect both ends of the yellow wire on the d plug to the back of the alternator?
