When I turn on the headlights everything dims and the voltage goes up and down and I dont have a sound system in it.. I just but the car 3 weeks ago and it was already converted to a 3g alternator. Any input on where to start off?

I would start by checking the voltage of the battery while the car is off and checking the voltage at the battery while the car is running. It takes like 12.2v to start your car and a 3G alternator should be charging your batt upwards of 14.4v. I'm just assuming it's a bad alternator or ground.

if the internal regulator is bad it will make the voltage go up and down and also over charge your battery, had it happen on my 86 b4, also could be as simple as a bad battery. have the battery system load checked and charging system load checked.
