Im doing a rebuild for a buddy and im stuck on this simple thing, so after installing the timing cover and water pump ive noticed that there is a hole in the back of the water pump that matches to a hole in the manifold, only thing that came in the gasket kit was a rubber o ring. I installed the oring and manifold but it jus doesnt seem right like maybe im missing a part. Any body with knowledge of this please chim in I dont want to finish it to find out if it will leak or not. Thanks guys

There is a special O ring that goes there. It is square cut and is available from GM dealer. It is not a conventional O ring.It is a square cur O ring and it is app 3/8 thick The ring is also available from Fel Pro by buying there timing chain gasket set. But buying a set just for the O ring is over kill. Try your dealer
