Just put a 302 in a project of mine, this motor sat out side after it was pulled five years ago, it stayed out side under a tarp, which fell apart after one season. Then I pulled in and it sat In my garage for another 2 years. All I did to get it lubed up so it would run was pulled upper and lower off, changed my oil filter, and dumped 5 quarts all over the lifters, then reinstalled everything, when it fired up it rattled a non lubed lifter, after about 30 sec everything was running smooth. So if your question is should you do anything to your engine before you put fire back into it? If you don't feel safe about how long it sat, then pull the motor, replace oil pump, look to make sure all else is good, if it is then run it. You say you lube the cylinders often, don't go crazy with that, they make a spray that goes in cylinders. Hope I could help. I'm on my 25th fox in the last 5 years. It's a nasty hobby .
