Thinking of picking up a 68k ($900) mile mustang gt motor to replace my stock 98 gt motor with 127k miles which is still running strong but looking for more power obviously without nitrous or power adder. Or just find a cheap head, cam, intake swap ... any logical thoughts ?? Trying to stay under $1k in parts for this swap ??

Whichever is easier for you, go ahead and do that. 900 bucks for a low mile 99-04 GT motor is a good deal.

Yea sems to look that way. And im paying for install so both cost nealybthe same , especially after I sell my current npi motor for $500 or so . And install for both is around $400 so think ill stick with full motor swap

pi swap would raise your C.R to around 10:1 pi motors have 9.5:1
I would do h/c/I on a non pi motor

What is that point worth about 10whp give or take ?? What is the difference in powerband, I know it wouldnt drop off at 4700 anymore in either case but what kind of 1/4 mile numbers would I expect with h,c,I swap and exhaust short shifter ?? 13.8-14.0

Feb 5th going to try at get a baseline run with just short shifter and cai. X-pipe . With 5 speed vert hoping for 15.2 or better wouldbe semi impressed with anything in 14.9 or faster range. Then few weeks after that should be doing either or to the engine which im sure is a smooth 30-40 whp bump in either case and would give me power for another 1k rpm

I would do the new motor with 68k miles for $900 cause even though you would have more power with the pi swap 7-14 hp more, later down the road you decide to add a supercharger the pi motor that has less compression ratio great for a blower compare to an high mileage high compression motor. If you wanna stay N/A then pi swap would be a better option.
