How do you go about modifying stock efi valve covers to work with roller rockers? Pictures would be nice thanks ca fords

Just have to remove the baffle from the inside and grind down the rivets.. ill take some pics tomorrow of mine.. its easy.. takes about 5-10 minutes..

I took the baffle out. I have 1.6 rr with the n41 cam i think i might be able to get away without having to grind anything

Try to install the valve covers without the gaskets and if the valve covers doesnt lay flat on the head then you need to grind more

Thanks for the pics my valve covers lay flat with doing nothing but take the baffle out. But i dont have my pushrods yet so i can see for shure if i need to grind or not.

I believe its the width of the roller rockers that cause them to come in contact with the baffle. i took mine out completely and still had to grind down the inside where the baffle bolts up. There is another modification that you can do to prevent the oil from splashing up into the neck and up the breather tube. I know someone on here has done it and has pictures of that modification.

Normally on stock valve covers, I leave one bolt hole and flatten the plate and bolt it in with one bolt or I have a plate welded in with holes.

Crap, I just did this to get around my Scorpion 1.6's, but forgot to take pics. I ground down the little wall under the baffle plate and put the baffle back on with only one screw. I then pounded it flat with a BFH.
Also, if you use valve covers from 91-93 (I think), they don't have the support posts located all around the inside of the covers. If you use the 88-90 covers, you'll have to ground down a couple of those supporting posts. You can see these posts in one of the pics above.

i have afr 165s and 1.6 scorpion RR's and had to buy 1 inch valve cover spacers and a 1 inch phelonic spacer for my systemax II to run my polished out sotcker's didn't feel like looseing the baffel or grinding

...and did that fit under the stock hood or do you have a lifted cowl hood?

Pics by racirx are perfect, that's how I did mine and it worked very well, no issues and no $130 spacers. For that price you can just get taller valve covers.
Just make sure you clean it up really well when you're done grinding. You definitely don't want that stuff going through the engine.

thats a big negataive I had to go buy a cobra r cowl hood for more clearence but I drive around for a year with out one no problem
