I currently have an A9P in my 5 speed 1990 5.0. I know the A9p is for autos, and I have a hanging idle and o2 fault stored, which I heard is common when installed in a 5 speed. I know the correct ecm for my car is the e9 (89) prefixed A9L, but will the f3 (93) A9L will work just the same?

Also I saw there are different p/n's for hard tops and verts. Will a vert a9l work okay in my 90 notch?

Never new there were so many versions of the A9L until now.

I like running the auto computers with 5 speeds more aggressive timing but I never had a drivability problem, maybe hit up Mustangguy and see what he says.

Its funny u say that. I heard that the fuel duty cycle curve (injector timing and on-time length) is greater with auto computers as well (to compensate for the sluggish AOD) BUT I heard that a federal emission (instead of a california emission) A9L has the same effect as a A9P. I tried to find anA-1 cardone reman. Unit but they are unvailable.

Ill hit uo mustangguy for his input. Thanks bro! [patriot]

Any other input guys?

research it you need to change your o2 sensor harness to match the ecu or you may fry the ecu...happens but not on all swaps and the harness should fix any hanging idles too but usually that happens on a auto ecu it hangs to allow the converter time to lock switch gears at a stop.
