Recently started having a problem with my truck. approx 92k miles on it, with the 5.4 in it.

It all started about a week ago. This truck is a commuter, a couple days in the same spot of the road the truck felt like it was going over a wash board of potholes. This happened two or three times. Didn't think much of it, until it happened twice, on the way home, on smooth parts of the highway, this time check engine light flashes. Now I know its not the road.

I noticed a few days ago there was a clicking noise coming from the clutch fan. Since owning a mustang, knew a lot of clutch fans clicked. So didn't think anything of it.

Now a few more details, it does feel like it sputters a few and won't recognize the throttle being pushed to accelerate, but then after i left off for a few seconds, it feels like it "resets" and drives fine, until I harp on it again.

Anyone have any idea on what it is????

Pull codes. We can't properly diagnose this issue without some direction to go in. My neighbor has an '06 and he has a similar issue, his IAC has gone bad. You have to replace the whole throttle body. Yours may have that problem or it can be something else. Pull codes and get back to us.

if check engine light is flashing on and off its a cat damaging problem. misfire most of the time. also that truck has cam phaser problems.

dealer will charge you money. autozone can run them for free. dont listen to their advice on the problem though. they dont know what they are talking about.

Let me guess, you are feeling the problem at 42-50 MPH and is under moderate acceleration (not present under very light or WOT) Also the hesitation/sputter on takeoff for a second is noticeable more so when A/C is on. And only under hard acceleration.
These trucks use a 2 piece spark plug, you are due for a plug change and possible plug boots.
With under 100K, your plugs "should" come out in one piece but you just never know. They make a much better 1 piece spark plug now which is ALOT better.
This is a VERY common issue with these trucks around this mileage.

Took the truck to the dealer I bought it from. They ran the code and it was a misfire code with one of the coils. They are doing a full tune-up (spark plugs etc) plus replacing the coils, and then one of the pulley's on the front as a worn bushing or something so they are replacing that. Extended warranty is covering it 100%.

Thanks guys for your help.

Maybe in California they won't but in Texas all the major auto parts stores will run codes for free.

OOPS those closed end plugs are a BITCH to get out. Be prepared to bust them off. Those plugs are a NIGHT MARE TO REMOVE. Fords Better Idea i guess. BUT!!! The tool normally works great and ford has a TSB on plug removal. Good luck on getting those plugs out!!!
