Topic: Vacuum tree & egr question

I'm about start doing a wire tuck on my 87 mustang .im switching over to MAF so I got a 89 harness .. Now my question is do I need any of smog stuff on the harness like the vaccum tree & can I delete my egr without having any issues?im not worried about smog I just want a cleaner looking engine bay .Thanks ca fords [ 2013-09-27, 09:03 AM: Message edited by: 87_ssp ]

You can unplug the vac lines to the EGR and run it but the car is aware the EGR is not functioning and it will log a KOER code but not a check engine light. You can also ignore the electronically controlled vac lines that work the smog pump and EGR behind the passenger side tower.
In all honesty though it is a good thing to run the EGR as it helps with unburnt fuel. The car will function without it.
