68 mustang previpus owner had a 'crate' motor installed.all I can see is 2f24 on the inside of the head.

I'd like to know what I have or what I don't have.no point in changine heads if these are good but would like to go to gt40

2F24 is a casting date. 2 is the year, so 72, 82, 92, 02. F is the month of June. 24 is the day of the month it was cast.

Ford pulls a dick move and casts the part number on the bottom of the head, so you have to actually pull it off to see what casting it is. If they're GT40 heads, there will be 3 lines cast in the front of the head (where the alternator would bolt to). GT40P heads would have 4 lines. You'll also see GT40 or GT40P cast in the top side of the head under the valve cover. If they're iron heads, chances are they're just run of the mill factory castings.
