So i got a tci streetfighter trans with a 2500 stall converter....it runs great and everything but i feel like it shifts into third gear/or overdrive to fast after first gear passes...and it slows me down if iwas to go for 1/4 mile....tired adjusting the kick down cable at the throttle body and i figured not to mess with it because when i did it my tranny wasnt shifting right so i adjusted it back to how it was....these trannys have a manual valve body, does that have anythign to do with it?

did you buy this new ?

is it an AOD ? and do you have the stock shifter ?

aod trannies have a stupid shift pattern....and horrible shift points to begin with. and unfortunately.....TCI is NOT a good trans builder...just a popular one

but if its a manaual valve body...then you should be shifting manually......and problem solved

but because the shift pattern only gives you 1-2/3-4

you CAN'T manually shift 2 and 3 without a OD lockout or the "aod shuffle" which will destroy your trans

so....more info needed...... do you have a C4 maybe ????

Sounds to me like you need a T5 conversion. Haha.

is your shift pattern like this ???

1-d-OD

or different ?

are you CERTAIN its a 4 speed automatic ? im sorry to ask that, but something just isnt right, i think you got the shaft

if it s a manual valvebody you can manually upshift it....but like i said an aod is a 4 speed with only 3 forward slots for the shifter so you need to either electronically lock out OD , or just leave it....od wont upshift under load even stock

well its an 89 coupe, so i think it goes 12d and over drive??? but im not sure if its the shifter itself i gotta mess with or what? i never understood the whole manual valve body....also its like my shifter skips sometimes...like i have to slap it down twice to go into reverse or to go into anygear....i know its not my tranny im sure its the shifter...do b nm shifters have any type of adjust?
