My buddy is going to be rebuilding his rearend and were looking to build a pretty solid setup. The car is currently making over 600rwhp and will eventually be upwards towards 750. We think were going to go with 355s, 31 spline axles and a detroit trutrac carrier. What Id like to know from those of you with experience with rear ends is what brand gears and axles to get. Moser axles? FRP gears? He will be launching this car hard.. just don't want anything breaking.
If you think he should go a different route, please chime in and explain why. We need this thing built asap and we are still looking to find a place to build it. Thanks in advance

If he's making that much power I would assume he has alot of money into it... He should be thinking about a Currie or Fabtech 9 inch rearend with some 33 spline axels if he plans to exceed 700 hp. That's just my thoughts, why cheap out on an 8.8 ? Also you forgot to mention the year, make and model the rearend is intended for.

This setup is for a 98 cobra. This will be raced on occasion and street driven. I know 8.8s can hold a good amount of power, but we're just thinkin about going this route for now since the car will be getting tuned 2 weekends from now and will be driving to knotts in April.

that's pretty much the setup i have, but i have 373's. i went with moser axles & c-clip eliminators, ford racing 373's, detroit tru trac. it has taken a beating just about everyday for almost 3 years, its only seen about 450hp on slicks and street tires and Ive had no problems..i think that setup can handle just a little more hp than you're gonna throw at it.hell run it until it breaks and keep us updated with how much the 8.8 can take
