My hatch is a little loose on my fox. The dome light flickers whenever i hit a bump indicating hatch opening up a bit and closing when im driving. I would hate for it to actually open all the way while im driving. Im sure someone else has experienced and how did you fix it. Its a 88 GT. Thanks in advance.

More than likely the plastic sleeve that "should" be around the striker bolt is completely worn or missing. Be prepared as they are pricey ....

How is the weather stripping on the hatch?? My hatch used to rattle, when I changed the weather stripping it went away.

I think it can be the sleeve, I have to slam the hatch a few times for it to close. The weather stripping isnt that bad. Is there a name for the plastic sleeve and can I buy it locally or do i have to order it?

Damn, 50 bucks for that stupid thing? Before you spend the money, wrap it in some electrical tape to see if it tightens things up. You can also try moving that piece down a bit. You should be able to loosen it and slide it down a hair.

yeah, if that fixes it then it will at least work for you till you can find one on here or pick n pull. I threw the tape on mine about 6 months back to see if it solved the issue and it worked great. Just wrap it around the part that the hatch latches onto and then you might have to adjust it up a bit.
Not a permanent fix, but at least gets ride of the annoying noise and light till you do
